The Springs Living Starts Work on Washington Community
The Springs Living has broken ground on a new senior living community in Vancouver, Washington.
The waterfront senior living community’s groundbreaking was years in the making for The Springs Living CEO Fee Stubblefield, and one that the company plans to represent the future of the senior living service model.
Pacific Northwest senior living operator The Springs Living recently saw construction begin at The Springs at The Waterfront, a 12-story senior living development that will serve approximately 250 residents. The property is located in the Portland, Oregon metro area and offers a mix of floor plans.
“This project is the progression and evolution of what we’ve been doing for the last 26 years,” Stubblefield told Senior Housing News. “The property was the right configuration, the right size and the right location.”
The Springs at The Waterfront will provide independent living, assisted living and memory care options for residents, featuring a spa and wellness center, an indoor pool, and multiple dining venues
Stubblefield said the project was tabled for a year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, with the development planning effort picking back up last year.
The project is a joint venture with San Diego, California-based PMB Pacific Medical Buildings and financed through Harrison Street, marking the first time The Springs Living has entered in on a joint venture, Stubblefield noted.
Mather Starts on Luxury Virginia Project
Illinois-based Mather announced the start of construction on a $500 million, approximately 300 unit luxury life plan community in Tysons, Virginia.

The Mather will offer wellness and lifelong learning to older adults in the surrounding area in a dedicated commercial space on the ground floor of the community through a partnership with Fairfax County
Lifespace Communities Breaks Ground on Illinois Expansion
Oak Trace, a nonprofit life plan community, celebrated breaking ground and the start of construction on a $112 million expansion in Downers Grove, Illinois. The community is owned and operated by Lifespace Communities.
The first phase of construction was completed in 2019 with the latest phase to add 145 independent living apartments. That will push the entire campus to 377 units, with the expansion expected to be completed next year.
New construction will include a clubhouse featuring a fitness center, pool, salon, casual dining venue, cafe seating, multipurpose room, living room and new lobby.
Once the second phase of construction is completed, the health center will be connected to the existing independent living building, via the new clubhouse.
