After $140M expansion, Charlotte, North Carolina life plan community continues work
The life plan community Southminster in the Charlotte, North Carolina metro area recently announced plans to expand work on the campus following a $140 million renovation plan.
Immediate construction on the campus now calls for renovating two dining rooms and the main corridor beginning later this month. Southminster will also implement a new master site plan that includes outdoor amenities such as outdoor patios and fire pits, walkways and exercise spaces, according to a news release regarding the plans.

Multiple partners start on $54M luxury community
Owner and developers FilBen Group, RSF Partners, McAlpine Contracting and designer H2M Architects + Engineers recently started construction on the Braemar at Montebello, a new four-level luxury community in Montebello, New York.
The $54 million, 200-unit, 133,675 square-foot community offers AL and memory care located ona 6.2-acre campus near Harriman State Park in Rockland County, New York. The project is adjacent to a larger site that includes the Montebello commercial center, which will offer residents access to retail, dining, entertainment and medical services, as well as sitting closeby Good Samaritan Hospital.
Braemar is a brand of FilBen-owned and operated senior living communities that saw its first property open in 2008 and 2015. The latest project will be the third Braemar-branded community and is slated to open in 2024. An additional property, a 152-unit AL community in Carmel, New York, is set for construction early this year, the FilBen Group said in a news release.
Shared amenities include a pub, game room and a pergola with a gazebo plus walking paths. Additional shared spaces include a billiard room, cafe, business lounge, general store, arts and crafts room with a sink and art tables, family lounge with an adjacent kids’ room, beauty salon, and coffee shop. The fitness center will be located adjacent to the wellness center.

Atria Senior Living opens second Coterie community
Coterie Hudson Yards, the second luxury senior living community in Atria Senior Living’s Coterie brand, recently marked a grand opening ceremony, according to a LinkedIn post by Atria Senior Living CEO John Moore.
A partnership between Related Companies and Atria Senior Living, the community’s fitness center is designed by the Mayo Clinic with a library stocked by McNally Jackson Books. Coterie residents have access to shops, restaurants and events in the Hudson Yards, New York area.
“Coterie Hudson Yards represents the best-in-class, tech-forward, senior living concept for the future,” Moore wrote in the LinkedIn post.
The community offers IL, AL and memory care units starting at $11,000 per month with a range of floor plans and care services.
The first Coterie community marked its opening in March of 2022 in San Francisco, California.
