Confluent Senior Living enters agreement to build MorningStar California community

Confluent Senior Living and MorningStar Senior Living have entered into an Exclusive Negotiating Agreement (ENA) with the city of Tustin, California to build a new luxury community.

Known as MorningStar at Tustin Legacy, the community will encompass 283,000 square-feet and is expected to break ground in the first half of 2025.

The community will feature two connected, four-to-five-story buildings with a single level of parking for 145 independent living (IL) units, 60 AL units and 28 memory care units. The two main buildings will be joined by 29 adjacent single-story cottages offering IL services.

Danish Home of Chicago breaks ground

The Danish Home of Chicago recently broke ground and started construction of new garden suites at the property that was first built in 1897.

The community now offers care to people 62 and older and is home to 41 older adults once fully-occupied.

The addition will bring 14 new units to the community, as previously reported by SHN.

Walsh Construction, SAS Architects complete renovation phase

Walsh Construction and SAS Architects and Planners, along with Lifespace Communities and Greenbrier Development, announced the completion of a phase within the broader, $88 million expansion project.

The project completely transforms the Oak Trace Senior Living Community in Downers Grove, Illinois. Thus far, the renovation included updates to shared spaces, an additional formal restaurant-style dining venue, multipurpose room, furnished library, art studio and bar lounge.

The 13-month project was completed in phases to allow minimal disruption to resident life.

Also, an expansion of independent living (IL) is on track to be completed early next year and include a five-story residential wing with 140 units, fitness center, dining venues, spa and performing arts center.

California urban farm community marks opening

Agrihood, California’s largest urban farm and affordable housing community, is now open.

The community encompasses below-market units of affordable senior housing and is designated for older adults and veterans. The project is funded by a 2016 Measure A Affordable Housing Bond, as prevously reported by SHN.
