Discovery Starts Pre-Leasing for Florida Community

Discovery Senior Living has opened an onsite “preview gallery” and begun pre-leasing for 198 independent living apartments at Discovery Village At Sarasota Bay in Bradenton, Florida.

As planned, the community will have one- and two-bedroom apartment homes and “signature club” residences with reserved underground parking, private elevators and other perks. Amenities include multiple indoor and outdoor dining options, a zero-entry pool with cabanas and a FitCamp fitness center.

The 198,000-square-foot community represents a $57 million investment, and construction is expected to wrap up by the spring of 2022.

Blake Community in Florida On Track for Fall Opening

Blake Management Group is opening a new senior living community in the master-planned community of Horizon West in Winter Garden, Florida.

The assisted living and memory care community, The Blake at Hamlin, is slated to have amenities such as multiple dining venues and two courtyards. Residents will also have access to a mixed-use town center.

If all goes according to plan, the community is set to open this fall.

Watermark Opens Latest Elan Collection Community in Los Angeles

Kayne Anderson Real Estate and Watermark Retirement Communities have announced the opening of The Watermark at Westwood Village, a Los Angeles community and Watermark’s newest entry into its luxury- and wellness-focused “Elan Collection.”

New residents at the 14-story, two-tower community can choose from 188 studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments, and they have access to a salon and spa, library and lounge, event space, fitness and wellness center and a courtyard with a fireplace and a dog run.

The community is also near the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and is a redevelopment of a dormitory originally built in the 1960s and designed by noted architect Dan Palmer.

Architecture firm CallisonRTKL and global design firm HBA led the community’s design, which features glass walls and vaulted ceilings, and apartments bedecked in neutral color palettes and modern finishes..

Watermark at Westwood Village

Retirement Unlimited Opens Virginia Community

Retirement Unlimited, Inc. (RUI) held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the licensure and opening of a new community in Glen Allen, Virginia.

The community, Westmont at Short Pump, has 123 studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments for independent living, assisted living and memory care residents. Amenities include a formal living room, library with computers, theater, billiards room, card room, multiple dining and food venues, a lifelong learning program with a designated classroom, salon and spa, space for fitness activities and a pet concierge and dog park.

The community also comes with enhanced infection control and safety measures, such as a needlepoint bi-polar ionization (NPBI) system and an industrial generator.

Kisco Community in California Adds Memory Care Wing

Emerald Court, a Kisco Senior Living community in Anaheim, California, has expanded with a new memory care neighborhood.

The space, called “Connections,” has 16 studio apartments along with a private courtyard, music lounge and memory care-centric dining.

Project partners included Douglas Pancake Architects and Deacon Construction.

— A hotel in Lynchburg, Virginia, is potentially slated to become senior housing.

Plans are underway to open a new senior living community in Speedway, Indiana.

Plans are moving ahead for a 35-unit independent living community in McLean, Virginia.

Construction is complete on a 78-bed assisted living and memory care community in Granite Falls, North Carolina.
