Florida CCRC Plans $35 Million Expansion Project

A continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, La Posada, will undergo a $35 million expansion and renovation project in the new year.

The expansion includes the addition of a new building, Mallorca at La Posada, which will feature 54 apartment homes. Amenities in the new building will include a restaurant, pub, salon and spa, fitness space and various indoor and outdoor areas.

Renovations will also be done on the existing clubhouse, which will include the addition of a free-standing 3,400-square-foot wellness center with locker rooms and a workout space as well as a new bar and lounge area that will feature Wii bowling competitions, large screen TVs for parties and a display kitchen in the new dining venue.

The renovation and expansion project at La Posada will be completed in the first quarter of 2018.

Senior Living Community Gets Go-Ahead in Arizona

Las Palomas Senior Living community, located in Mesa, Arizona, has been given the go-ahead to start construction.

The Spectrum Retirement community will have 173 residences. Ninety of the residences will be for independent living and the rest will be for assisted living and memory care.

All apartments are available for lease and range from studios to two-bedroom, two-bathroom, 1,000 square-foot homes.

Residents will be able to enjoy amenities such as a theater, salon, chef-prepared meals at any time of day, on-site concierge services and social and wellness activities.

Construction is planned to begin at Las Palomas Senior Living in early spring and anticipates to be ready for its first residents in 2018.

Senior Living Community Planned Near Disney World

A 239-unit senior housing community has secured a $41 million construction loan for the $80 million project. The community, financed by Big Rock Partners, will be located in Celebration, Florida.

The community will feature 151 independent living units, 55 assisted living units and 33 memory care units. Amenities will include two restaurants, a spa, an all-purpose room, a movie theater and a top-floor solarium.

The community is scheduled to open in spring 2018 and is being designed by architectural firm Gensler.

Balfour Beatty LLC will build the property and Life Care Services will manage the community.

Assisted Living Community Breaks Ground in Texas

Adjacent to an already established memory care community, Sodalis Senior Living has broken ground on Sodalis Summit Oaks Assisted Living in Buda, Texas.

The assisted living community will have 48 assisted living apartments and include a movie theater, prayer room, spa-like salon and wine bar.

Planned to open in November 2017, the community is owned and operated by Texas-based Sodalis Senior Living.

Construction Underway on Radiant Senior Living Memory Care Building

Radiant Senior Living is expanding its senior living campus, Farmington Square Gresham located in Gresham, Oregon.

Currently, the community has a four-building assisted living and memory care community, but will be adding another memory care building to the mix.

The new building will have 15 units for up to 26 residents with specialized memory care programming.

The construction of the building is expected to be complete by June 2017.

Radiant Senior Living owns and operates the campus, along with 17 other communities throughout Oregon, Washington, Montana and Colorado.

Ground Broken For Two Neighborhoods In 55+ Community 

Located in Temescal Valley, just south of Corona, California, two neighborhoods in the master-planned 55+ community, Terramor, are underway.

The entire development is situated on 961 acres of undeveloped land and has been approved for 1,443 single-family homes, including neighborhood options for those 55 and up as well as all-age buyers.

The two neighborhoods underway, Cortina and Ardena by Del Webb at Terramor are for those 55 and up and will feature 240 single-family homes that range from 1,579 to 2,172 square feet. There will be a variety of floor plans and styles for buyers to choose from.

Amenities in the community will include a six-acre recreation site with a 20,000-square-foot clubhouse exclusively for those 55 and older. Residents will also be able to enjoy a resort-style pool, indoor pool, fitness center, tennis, bocce ball and pickle ball courts as well as a crafts room, ballroom and other multipurpose rooms.

Forestar Toscana Development Company is the developer and capital is coming from Foremost Companies and Starwood Capital Group.

Cortina and Ardena by Del Webb At Terramor are expected to open in spring 2017.

Phase One of $75 Million Senior Community Complete

Located in Catonsville, Maryland, the first phase of a $75 million repositioning project is complete at Charlestown Retirement Community.

The first phase in the three-phase project is an assisted living community, Caton Woods, that will accommodate 116 residents.

The Erickson Living assisted living community took almost two years to complete. The new building replaces the previous assisted living facility, which was built almost 30 years ago. Apartments at Caton Woods will include higher ceilings, granite countertops and cherry cabinets.

Phase two and three will include reposting two outdated buildings to make space for a new memory care community as well as a skilled nursing facility.

Hord Coplan Macht Inc. was the architecture for the project and the general contractor was Whiting-Turner.

Archdiocese of New Orleans Opens $40 Million Senior Community

St. Anthony’s Gardens in New Orleans welcomed its first residents a few weeks ago to the $40 million senior living community run by the Archdiocese of New Orleans.

The community includes 120 independent living units in studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments, 57 assisted living suites and 36 memory care units.

Residents at St. Anthony’s Gardens will be able to enjoy a large auditorium, fitness areas for exercise and dance classes, a community post office, dining rooms, other gathering areas and a chapel with hand-carved mahogany wood details.

Life Care Services will manage St. Anthony’s Gardens.

CCRC Completes $11 Million Expansion

The Plaza at Santa Marta, located in Olathe, Kansas has completed its $11 million expansion.

The continuing care retirement community’s expansion includes 18 private skilled nursing rehabilitation suites, 12 memory care support suites and eight assisted living apartments available in one or two-bedroom options. The expansion also included a rehabilitation gym.

The skilled nursing portion is open now and the memory support sites and assisted living apartments will be opening soon.
