Watermark Retirement Communities is working with Curana Health in a partnership that will bring value-based care arrangements to onsite community clinics as well as into older adults’ homes.
Watermark and Curana are now collaborating on six onsite clinics at Watermark communities in Florida, Texas, and Pennsylvania, Curana announced today. The companies also have plans to open approximately 10 additional clinics in the months ahead.
Older adults will through their efforts have access to “concierge-style” services, including preventative care, sick visits, lab work, wound care and blood pressure clinics. Curana Health coordinates resident care using their current specialists and other care teams. It also offers around-the-clock access to advanced practice providers who specialize in working with older adults.
In a press release, Watermark CEO and President David Barnes said the operator is “very focused on establishing strategic partnerships with groups who are aligned with our values, vision and high standards.”
“Watermark’s strategic partnership with Curana Health is such a partnership, offering our residents and their families an option for convenient and coordinated physician-led care that integrates with our clinical staff to provide enhanced communication and support,” Barnes said in a press release.
Curana’s move with Watermark follows a similar partnership with value-based care and chronic care management provider 24 Our Care. Through the partnership, Curana will provide chronic care management for Presbyterian Senior Living (PSL) residents across the country.
“U.S. residents of senior living and skilled nursing, average more than a dozen chronic conditions each, impacting their wellness and quality of life,” Curana President Chris Dawe said in a press release. Our partnership with 24 Our Care will give PSL access to [chronic care management] services that can improve care and help residents achieve better living, while reducing costs, creating financial stability, and reducing risk.”
Curana also earlier this year linked up with Serviam Care Network in a partnership that aimed to increase access to value-based care services for residents in senior living communities. At the time of the partnership’s announcement in May, the companies planned to add Curana’s health care platform to as many as 40 assisted living and memory care communities in Virginia.
Curana’s multiple business segments include a provider-led medical group called Curana Health Medical Group; Medicare Advantage health plans from AllyAlign Health; and a Medicare Accountable Care Organization called the Curana Health ACO.
