Planned Mixed-Use Project in California to Include Senior Living
Mana Investments and Hunter Street Partners have won approval to develop a new senior housing community as part of The Well at Sunset, a mixed-use redevelopment project coming together in Livermore, California.
The redevelopment is slated to include a new 128-unit senior housing community for independent living, assisted living and memory care residents along with space for dining, medical and office tenants.
Work on the project is currently expected to begin in Q4 2022.

Transforming Age Opens Senior Living Tower at Seattle Community
Transforming Age has expanded its Skyline campus in Seattle by opening a new 21-story senior living building. The project, called Olympic Tower, includes 77 one- and two-bedroom units and penthouse apartments.
New amenities include a 240-seat performing arts center with a full stage and green room, spa, a bar and cafe and a club room with views of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains.
Ankrom Moisan designed the community, and PCL Construction built it.
LGBTQ+ Community Under Construction in California
A new senior living community geared toward LGBTQ+ older adults is under construction in Palm Springs, California.
The community, Living Out Palm Springs, is slated to include 122 luxury-style apartments ranging from about 1,100 square feet to 1,700 square feet, with every unit equipped with a balcony or patio. The community was designed with mid-century modern architecture in mind.
Construction Underway for Anthology Community in Dallas
Construction crews have started work on Anthology of Highland Park, a new Anthology Senior Living assisted living and memory care community coming together in the Dallas neighborhood of Highland Park.
Spanning 11 stories, the 121-unit community is slated to have amenities such as a salon, theater, fitness center, library and pub with a fireplace, top-floor dining areas and shaded elevated terraces.
Cadence McShane Construction is building the community, while PRDG handled its design. Work is expected to wrap up in the summer of 2023.
Essex Breaks Ground on Active Adult Community in South Dakota
Active adult developer, general contractor and operator Essex Corp. has broken ground on The Parkwood, a $45 million active adult community in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Plans call for 133 one- and two-bedroom rental apartments with amenities such as a coffee shop, salon, library, theater, guest suite, a dog wash station and a car wash bay.
The Parkwood is currently slated to open spring 2023.
Elegance Living Makes Progress On California Community
Construction is moving steadily ahead for a new Elegance Living community in Berkley, California.
Elegance has opened a leasing center for Elegance Berkeley, its new assisted living and memory care community. As planned, the four-story community will have 96 apartments in studio and one-bedroom floor plans. Amenities include a bistro with a wine bar, fitness center, art lab, library, theater, salon, courtyard with mobility and balance fitness equipment, outdoor grill and theater, wellness and telehealth suite and a physical and occupational therapy center.
In addition to Elegance Living, the other project partners included Capital Health Group and Spirit Living Group.
North Carolina Life Plan Community Expansion Hits Construction Milestone
Whitestone, a life plan community in Greensboro, North Carolina, is now about halfway through a $75 million expansion project.
The work, started in July 2020, is set to include 67 independent living residences with open floor plans and customized features as well as 24 assisted living residences, 12 memory care suites, and new enhancements to short-term rehabilitation services and spaces.
SFCS Architects and Frank L. Blum Construction Company are partners on the construction project, which is expected to wrap up in the spring of 2023.

First Ativo Community Opens in Arizona
The first community in the Ativo brand from Link Senior Development has opened in Yuma, Arizona.
The 79-apartment community has game rooms, an art studio, theater, fitness center, a private dining room, a salon for assisted living and memory care, an outdoor garden and a four-seater Surrey bike.
This is the first joint-venture Ativo project between Link Development and Insight Senior Living. The two companies have future projects planned in Prescott Valley, Arizona; Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Sundance, Arizona.
Anthology Holds Grand Opening for Virginia Community
Anthology Senior Living has held a grand opening for Anthology of Charlottesville, a new community in Charlottesville, Virginia.
The community has 179 units for independent living, assisted living and memory care residents along with amenities that include a bistro, salon and barbershop, courtyards, outdoor spaces with fireplaces and gardening, indoor pool, golf simulator, fitness center and theater.
Ohio Life Plan Community Opens Health and Rehab Center
Friendship Village of Dublin, a life plan community in Dublin, Ohio, has opened a new health and rehabilitation center.
The new wing, called Alderwood Health and Rehab includes 36 private suites equipped with bi-polar ionization air filtration systems and averaging about 400 square feet in size.
With the new expansion, Friendship Village of Dublin is also gaining an onsite satellite office of Central Ohio Primary Care (COPC), making it the only skilled nursing facility in central Ohio to have one, according to the community.
