Argentum Unveils New Senior Living Workforce Initiative

A new senior housing workforce initiative—”Senior Living Works”—was introduced on Tuesday at the 2018 Argentum Senior Living Executive Conference in San Diego.

Among other resources for senior housing professionals, the Senior Living Works website includes a workforce engagement toolkit, relevant news and articles, and career-focused videos.

The website also features presentations, fact sheets and one-pagers intended for industry leaders who take part in community outreach at career fairs, educational institutions and volunteer organizations.

The senior housing industry is tasked with recruiting and retaining approximately 300,000 more employees by 2026, according to Argentum.

“As an industry, we need to continue to build on the awareness that senior living offers rewarding careers,” Argentum President and CEO James Balda said in a press release. “Senior Living Works provides the resources and tools needed to help industry leaders achieve that collective goal.”

Senior Living Works is not the first initiative aimed at raising awareness about the industry. In late 2016, the American Seniors Housing Association (ASHA) launched the consumer-focused “Where You Live Matters” website, with the goal of providing seniors, adult children and other potential senior living consumers with information about the industry that is “unbiased, research-based [and] thought-provoking.”
