Florida Community Plots Assisted Living Expansion
Campo Felice, an active adult community in Fort Myers, Florida, is planning an expansion that will include some private assisted living residences.
The eight-story expansion, Riverfront Assisted Living and Memory Care, will have 126 assisted living and memory care apartments. Residents will have access to a bevy of amenities, such as a resort-style pool, fitness center, salon and spa and a cinema.
The City of Fort Myers granted the project site plan approval, with a groundbreaking set for later this year. Titsch & Co Architects is designing the new expansion.
Colorado Community to Undergo Renovations
Design firm OZ Architecture was chosen to handle the renovations of the Towers at Golden West, three independent living and assisted living buildings in Boulder, Colorado.
As planned, the renovations will give the three buildings — which include 254 independent living and 56 assisted living units — updated finishes and brand-new appliances. The biggest remodel will occur at the central tower, where offices and amenity spaces are set for modernization and new spaces such as a kitchen, large dining room and grab-and-go cafe, wellness center, recreation room, library and beauty salon.
All of the windows in the 13-story south tower will be replaced as well as the windows of the four-story mezzanine building. Other upgrades include a new elevator and a new main entry design to replace the existing canopy.
Plans call for construction to begin in early 2019.
Virginia’s Fox Trail Plans Memory Care Conversions
Fox Trail Assisted Living Memory Care, a subsidiary of Fox Trail Senior Living, is converting two assisted living communities into ones that specialize in Alzheimer’s and dementia care.
The conversions are slated to occur at communities in Orange and Front Royal, Virginia, by Feb. 1.
Fox Trail Senior Living is a senior living network of senior living 19 communities throughout the U.S.

Capitol Seniors Housing Breaks Ground on Atria Community Near Chicago
Capitol Seniors Housing has started work on Atria Highland Park (pictured above), an assisted living and memory care community in the Chicago suburb of Highland Park.
As planned, the $30 million, 86-suite community will be operated by Atria Senior Living and include access to amenities such as include public and private dining venues, a bistro, living room, card room, library, theater, art studio, exercise room and a multipurpose room meant for games and activities.
As part of the project, Capitol Seniors Housing also will build a pedestrian crossing extending into a nearby park, expand a sidewalk and improve another sidewalk with new landscaping and seating.
Mosely Architects interior design firm Studio Six 5 designed the community. If all goes according to plan, Atria Highland Park will open in the second quarter of 2020.
Phoenix Senior Living Starts Work on Georgia Community
Phoenix Senior Living recently broke ground on The Phoenix at Braselton, a 162-apartment independent living, assisted living and memory care community in Braselton, Georgia.
Residents will have access to a bistro, piano lounge, salon, pub, library, restaurant style dining rooms, outdoor dining space and a wellness center. The community will also have a demonstration kitchen with balcony viewing for demonstrations and classes.
Exterior amenities also include paved walking paths that cut through gardens, courtyards with covered patio areas, a playground and an infinity pool with a poolside bar.
The Phoenix at Braselton is slated to open early next year. Project partners include Reeves Young and Ameris Bank.
Construction Underway in Florida for Active Adult Housing
LandSouth Construction has started work for Olea at Viera, a $22.8 million active adult community in Viera, Florida.
Olea at Viera will have 166 apartments in two four-story buildings and include access to social kitchen, pool, cabana, courtyard, library, community garden, fitness studio, dog wash and park.
The project’s partners include developer CRP/Pollack Addison Village and Meeks + Partners. Construction is expected to wrap up in 2020.
Model Home Open for Georgia Active Adult Project
Holbrook of Decatur, an active adult community under construction in Decatur, Georgia, has opened its first model home.
The 200-residence community is scheduled to open in April with upscale amenities such as farm-to-table restaurants, a wine cellar, spa, indoor saltwater pool, hydrotherapy pool, athletic training, travel club, match-making service, small business incubation center, creative art studio and a center for performing arts.

Leisure Care Opens California Community
Leisure Care has opened a new senior living community in Palm Desert, California.
The property, Bella Villaggio, had 148 independent living, assisted living units and memory care units. Benefits for residents include a signature health and wellness program, an in-house travel agency, a brain fitness program, language learning programs powered by Rosetta Stone, a memory care program called Opal and a brand of low-acid coffee.
Leisure Care operates 48 retirement communities in the U.S.
Erickson-Managed CCRC Opens New Building
Ann’s Choice, a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) managed by Erickson Living in Warminster, Pennsylvania, held a ceremonial ribbon-cutting on Jan. 10, to celebrate the opening of a new assisted living addition.
The expansion, Chestnut Pointe, has 61 assisted living apartments, activity rooms, and a table-service restaurant. It also has a large courtyard for gatherings. The new assisted living homes range in size from studios to one and two-bedrooms, and have a private, full bathroom and a kitchenette.
Chestnut Pointe is part of a multi-year plan to expand the community and ultimately add 61 assisted living apartment-homes, 44 memory care residences, and 88 skilled nursing residences.
Integrated Senior Lifestyles Opens Expansion in Texas
Integrated Senior Lifestyles (ISL) has opened an expansion at its Watercrest at Kingwood community in Kingwood, Texas.
The expansion, “Garden Village,” adds to the community 101 independent living and assisted living residences. It also brings new common areas and amenities such as outdoor sitting areas, a walking trail, wellness center, libraries, pet park and two new dining venues.
Resort Lifestyle Communities Sets Jan. 24 Opening for Florida Property
An active adult community is poised to open its doors to residents in Tallahassee, Florida.
Resort Lifestyle Communities has set a Jan. 24 grand opening for Red Hills Village Retirement Resort, an active adult community with studio-, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments. Amenities include flexible dining hours, a 150-seat theater, valet parking and entertainment options.
