Charter Senior Living is growing its presence in the New England area by taking on management of six communities formerly managed by Leisure Care, according to Charter COO and President Jayne Sallerson.
The communities now managed by Charter Senior Living offer a range of services from independent living to assisted living and memory care and are located in Brookfield, Orange and Woodbridge, Connecticut; and Danvers, North Dartmouth and Dedham, Massachusetts.
The communities are currently owned by Columbia Pacific Advisors, Sallerson confirmed. Charter also manages other communities owned by the investment firm in additional states, Sallerson said.
The company’s growth in New England is meant to further strengthen its geographic concentration, according to Sallerson.
“This allows us to leverage our regional teams and allow us to continue with our hands-on approach and visibility within our communities,” Sallerson said.
The Naperville, Illinois-based operator recently opened a new ground-up development in Bristol, Connecticut and has another project underway also in the Constitution State.
“We wanted to build out a New England region and we will continue to look for opportunities,” Sallerson said.
In March of last year, Charter named Sallerson president and the company is focused on improving employee retention to achieve growth goals. Her appointment was part of a leadership “refocus,” according to CEO Keven Bennema.
“We’re not just chasing new growth,” Bennema said last year. “It’s very calculated and we owe it to our partners to continue to focus our attention on certainly managing assets that we manage while expanding our joint venture partner relationships.”
