Ryan Companies Names New CFO

Ryan Companies has named Lisa Kro as its CFO and chief administrative officer. Kro fills a role that was left vacant when Brian Murray became the company’s CEO last May.

Kro is now tasked with the leadership and oversight of all financial, administrative and fiscal aspects of Ryan’s operations. Specifically, she will look after the company’s financial, accounting, human resources, legal and risk management and information systems.

Kro most recently was a co-founder and managing partner for Mill City Capital in Minneapolis.

Mather Announces SVP of Strategic Initiatives

Mather LifeWays has appointed Meredith Boyle as its new senior vice president of strategic initiatives.

In her new role, Boyle will help develop strategic partnerships and forge new collaborations and alliances for the organization. She also will work with colleagues to conceive and implement new ways to better serve residents, particularly with regard to workforce initiatives and wellness.

Boyle has more than 30 years of industry experience. She most recently worked for BB&T Capital Markets.

Welltower Combines CEO, Chairman Roles

Welltower has moved to combine the roles of chairman of the board and CEO. Moving forward, Tom DeRosa will fill both roles for the company, according to an SEC filing.

The company’s board also designated Jeffrey Donahue as its independent lead director. Additionally, Welltower announced that Timothy Naughton resigned from his role as a director.

Capitol Seniors Housing Announces New Principal

Capitol Seniors Housing has appointed Kristen Ahrens as it principal of business development.

Ahrens, who has more than two decades of experience in senior living and finance, previously worked as managing director with Capital One Healthcare, which was previously called GE Healthcare Financial Services.

Springpoint Names SVP of Operations and Facilities

Springpoint Senior Living has promoted David Wean to the title of senior vice president of operations and facilities.

Wean has worked in senior living for more than 30 years, with a long list of previous positions at Springpoint included in that count. To date, he’s worked in various roles with the senior living operator, including executive director, senior executive director and vice president of facilities and asset management.

Integral Communities Name Executive Directors

Harbour Pointe Senior Living, an Integral Senior Living (ISL) community in Mukilteo, Washington, has named Angelia Brigance as its executive director.

Brigance previously served as the executive director for multiple senior living communities, including Chateau Retirement Communities in Bothell, Washington.

Earlier this year, Brigance spoke on a Senior Housing News webinar about the ins and outs of marijuana use in senior housing settings.

Another ISL community, The Village at Stonebridge in McKinney, Texas, also named a new executive director in Cory St. Aubin.

She is now tasked with managing the community’s team and operations. St. Aubin previously spent three years as an executive director at Harbor Retirement Associates.

Cadence Names New Executive Director

Wendy Mcilnay has joined Cadence Living’s Cadence Millbrae community in Millbrae, California, as executive director.

Mcilnay formerly worked with Northstar Senior Living, and has more than 27 years in the industry.

Florida Life Plan Community Welcomes HR Manager

Cypress Cove at HealthPark Florida, a life plan community in Fort Myers, Florida, has named Ammie Black to the role of HR manager.

Black is responsible for employee relations, recruitment, retention, professional development, performance management, state and federal compliance, managerial support, workers’ compensation and conflict management.

New Jersey Community Names Fitness Manager

Laurel Circle, a Life Care Services community in Bridgewater, New Jersey, has hired Mark Maccaroni as its fitness manager.

In his new role, Maccaroni will oversee physical training and exercise programs for the senior living community’s 200 residents.

Maccaroni previously worked as director of fitness at URGE Fitness, a gym and fitness center in Ewing, New Jersey.

ORIX Hires Director of Marketing, Communication and Research

ORIX Real Estate Capital (OREC), the combined company of Lancaster Pollard and RED Capital Group, has hired Julie McConnell as its director of marketing, communication and research.

In the new role, McConnell will oversee the integration of the Lancaster Pollard and RED marketing teams.

McConnell previously spent 11 years at investment management firm Diamond Hill Capital Management as head of marketing, communications and intermediary sales.

Berkshire Expands Debt and Senior Housing Teams

Carolyn Burgess has joined Berkshire’s investments team as senior vice president and chief credit officer, while Matthew Whitlock is the company’s managing director and chief investment officer of senior housing.

Carolyn previously served as vice president of multifamily and chief risk officer at Fannie Mae, while Whitlock worked as a vice chairman and partner at CBRE, where he was co- manager of its national senior housing group.

Taylor Design Announces Leadership Changes

Architecture design firm Taylor Design has shuffled many of its roles in a new push to change its leadership.

The company — which services clients in the education, science and technology and senior living markets — announced several promotions across its offices in Irvine, San Diego and San Francisco, California. Most notably, the firm named Stephanie L’Estrange leader of its interior design practice.

L’Estrange joined Taylor Design in 2018 as regional interior design director and has led teams on health care, higher education and science and technology projects.
