Inovonics Awarded with Two Design Patents for Senior Living Pendants

The United States Patent and Trademark Office recently awarded Inovonics a pair of design patents for its EN1221S-60 family of senior living pendants.

Brought to market in September 2015, the EN1221S-60 pendant is 60% smaller and lighter than Inovonics’ prior pendant. The pendant has a polished finish and smooth shape that makes it comfortable for continuous use. Additionally, it is waterproof, enabling residents to safely bathe or shower while wearing the pendant.

Amazon Alexa Pilot Begins at Civitas Senior Living Community

Civitas Senior Living, Capitol Seniors Housing, and smart home technology company CT Home are partnering to pilot the use of Amazon’s Alexa in every resident apartment at Park Creek Independent Living in Cypress, Texas.

CT Home chose Park Creek Independent Living as the ideal location for a pilot of this sort because Civitas Senior Living, Park Creek’s operating company and Capitol Seniors Housing, the ownership group behind Park Creek, are considered innovators in the senior housing space, according to a press release.

Every Park Creek resident who decides to take part in the pilot program receives a complimentary Alexa device. 

Eversound Wins NAAP 2018 Business Affiliate Award of Excellence

CarePredict Unveils AI-Powered Senior Care Technology Platform

Florida-based CarePredict launched its new, artificial intelligence-powered senior care technology platform at the Argentum Senior Living Executive Conference in San Diego earlier this month. 

CarePredict is one of the first companies to utilize artificial intelligence (AI) to observe, learn, and trigger just-in-time high-quality care for seniors. The CarePredict solution combines a Tempo wearable sensor with smart location technology and machine-learning algorithms to measure activity and behavioral patterns of residents, allowing senior housing care staff to intervene before health emergencies take place.

Currently, CarePredict’s products are being used by senior housing communities to predict when residents are at risk for urinary tract infections (UTIs), falls or depression. CarePredict has deployed its products in assisted living and memory care communities in the U.S. and Canada, and is expected to be launching in China, Japan, Argentina and Brazil.

K4Community Solution Hits 2 Million Home Automation & IoT Interactions 

North Carolina-based technology company K4Connect’s K4Community senior living solution has managed more than two million unique home automation/Internet of Things (IoT) interactions.

Civitas Senior Living Partners With MyndVR in Texas

Civitas Senior Living, a Texas-based senior housing operator, is partnering with Dallas-based MyndVR to introduce virtual reality to the residents of Midtowne Assisted Living and Memory Care in Midlothian, Texas.

“Technology will lead senior living into a happier, healthier, more enabled future,” Wayne Powell, founder and CEO of Civitas, said in a press release. “We can deliver experiences to our residents using virtual reality that may be difficult or impossible under any other circumstances. Such virtual freedom will make a difference in our resident experience.”
