Mather tops out Tysons, Virginia project
Evanston, Illinois-based senior living operator Mather announced the topping out of The Mather, a luxury highrise life plan community in Tysons, Virginia, near Washington, D.C.
The luxury community, nearly 800,000 square-feet, consists of a two tower complex. The first tower rises 22 stories and the second tower rises an additional 13 floors. Base levels include retail space, community center, common areas and a life center. The first floor community center and retail space will be 14,000 square-feet to be open to those 50 and up in a collaboration with Fairfax County.
The project recently topped out with contractors pouring the final concrete on the project’s roof. Slated to open next year, the luxury community consists of 179 units built in the first phase and 114 units built in its second phase as part of the $500 million development.
A 50/50 equity partnership with Westminster Capital, The Mather’s construction is being led by general contractor Whiting Turner who estimates the project includes more than 50,000 cubic yards of concrete and represents 700,000 workforce hours to-date.
Meeting strict LEED and WELL building standards, units in the luxury community range from 850 square-feet to 3,300 square-feet and entrance fees start at $646,700. The two towers are connected at the third through fifth floors and third floor amenities include a fitness center, spa, indoor pool, multiple restaurants, outdoor terraces, art studio and more.
