Watermark Retirement Communities Plans New California Project

Tucson, Arizona-based Watermark Retirement Communities and national development firm Oppidan Investment Company have partnered to build a new IL, AL and memory care community in Oceanside, California.

Known as The Hacienda Mission San Luis Rey, the community is nestled on the campus of the Mission Luis Rey,that was founded in 1798, giving the future community a sense of place within the historic area. The project is also architecturally inspired by the Mission in the Spanish Revival style offering 212 units.

The Hacienda will include 103 L units, 86 AL units and 24 memory care residences. Shared amenities include a spa, salon, fitness center, pool, library, movie theater, VR lounge and four restaurants.

Watermark Retirement Communities manages more than 70 communities in 22 states nationwide.

Texas senior living community breaks ground

Longhorn Village, a senior living community in Austin, Texas, celebrated the start of construction on an expansion.

Founded in 2008 by the University of Texas Exes as a community for seniors in the Austin area, the community has seen success that led to the most recent expansion.

For the expansion, Greenbrier Development and design firm Perkins Eastman joined White Construction on the project. The 136,000 square-foot renovation adds 48 new apartment homes to the community’s existing 214 apartments, villas and 96 health care units.

The new four-story addition will also include an underground parking facility. Construction is expected to wrap in late 2024, according to a news release regarding the groundbreaking.

Blakeford Senior Life opens new memory care campus

Nashville, Tennessee-based Blakeford Senior Life recently announced the opening of a new memory care campus in Nashville’s Green Hills neighborhood as part of a $75 million expansion.

Burton Court at Blakeford Memory Care brings state-of-the-art memory care services in a home-like setting. The addition includes two floors designed to function as individual communities in a total of 24 apartments along with a patio, deck and two dining spaces.

It also includes a four season sitting room, activity room and salon.
