Galerie Living nets approval for Emory University project

Galerie Living recently saw approval for its plan to redevelop a portion of Emory University’s Briarcliff property.

Galerie Living will develop and operate the Corso Druid Hills community, as previously reported by Senior Housing News.

The community will feature approximately 500 units including IL cottages as well as one and two-bedroom apartments for AL and memory care residents.

Last year, Galerie Living opened the first community in its Corso brand in Atlanta.

United Church Homes plans new active adult Ohio community

United Church Homes recently held a ceremony marking the start of construction on Hamlet on Darby, an active adult community for older adults 55 and up.

The community in Plain City, Ohio is a joint venture with The McCabe Companies and will feature 67 two-bedroom villas and townhomes on the nine acre site. The project will feature units with attached garages, covered front porches and some will feature electric vehicle-ready units.

Shared amenities include a community pavilion with an outdoor firepit, common areas, gardens, walking paths and connections to nearby bike paths.

Pre-leasing will begin in March 2023 and the first phase of construction is scheduled to be complete by July 2023. The project is slated for full-opening in February 2024.

United Church Homes is one of the nation’s largest nonprofit providers of managed senior living and affordable housing as the 20th largest multisite, nonprofit senior living organization, according to the 2022 LeadingAge Ziegler 200 ranking serving more than 5,500 residents at its owned and managed communities.

KindCare opens sales office on Connecticut campus

KindCare Assisted Living recently opened a new sales office in Bristol, Connecticut alongside its 117-unit AL and memory care community that’s under construction.

The mid-market project is designed to serve residents with all-inclusive pricing, remote visitation, telehealth and updated HVAC air handling systems. The five-story community also recently hosted a topping off ceremony with roof trusses now in place.

The first residents will move in starting in Spring 2023.

KindCare also has other projects underway in various stages of planning and construction at its Naugatuck, Connecticut project with a planned 124-bed AL and memory care community slated for opening in Spring 2024.

EGA Architects is the lead designer on KindCare communities and Wohlsen Construction is the general contractor.

Broadview at Purchase College tops off New York project

Broadview at Purchase College, a university-based retirement community on the Purchase College State University of New York campus, recently hosted a topping off ceremony for the project.

The intergenerational project is scheduled to open in Fall 2023 and is now over 90% sold and construction is well-underway.

The community will be 220 living apartments and villas for older adults ages 62 and up, along with offering AL and memory care.

Aegis Living breaks ground on new California community

Aegis Living, in the midst of celebrating its 25th anniversary, recently announced it will soon break ground on a new community in San Rafael, California.

The community, known as Aegis Living San Rafael,will pay tribute to Mission San Rafael, and will mark the 16th community for Aegis Living in California.

The 112,089 square-foot building is expected to open to residents in early 2025. The project’s design was heavily influenced by the Spanish missions of California. The interior of the space will include large places to gather as a group and smaller alcoves.

The development will be made up of over 100 residential apartments of AL and memory care. A central gathering space with amenities, from fine and casual dining to an on-site movie theater and health and wellness suite.

Aegis Living operates 36 communities across California, Nevada and Washington.

Affordable senior living community breaks ground in New Jersey

Real estate company The Alpert Group LLC and nonprofit The Bright Side Family broke ground recently on a new affordable senior housing community in Teaneck, New Jersey.

The project will bring 40 IL apartments that replace a vacant municipal facility currently on the site.

The five-story development consists primarily of one-bedroom units. On-site amenities include parking, community room, elevator and other ADA-compliant features.

Additionally, five units in the project will be age-restricted, permanent, supportive housing units for homeless persons.

The Alpert Group has developed over 3,500 units of housing and currently owns and manages a portfolio of over 2,500 units in New Jersey.

American House Senior Living Communities opens Michigan community

American House Senior Living Community recently held a grand opening ceremony for the Village at Bloomfield, a mixed use project in Bloomfield, Michigan.

The community features 150-units offering spaces for IL. The Village at Bloomfield includes multifamily housing, fitness, medical, hotel rooms, grocery, convenience retail, home goods and office spaces.

Amenities and services will include restaurant-style dining, salon, fitness and wellness center, game lounge, activities center and more.

American House Senior Living Communities offers IL, AL and memory care for seniors across the Midwest, New England and Southeast.
