Lloyd Jones Taps Industry Vet Grady as President of Aviva Senior Living Brand

Lloyd Jones Senior Living announced David Grady as president of its senior living brand, Aviva, where he will be tasked with the smooth integration of new additions to the portfolio.

A senior living veteran, Grady served as divisional vice president with Elmcroft Senior Living and as president with both Somerby Senior Living and Bridge Senior Living. Prior to being named president of Aviva, Grady joined Aviva’s advisory board in June.

“Grady will direct the strategic operations of Aviva Senior Living … and will oversee the integration of the new acquisitions into the Aviva brand,” Lloyd Jones Chairman and CEO Chris Finlay said in a press release.

Grady takes the reins at Aviva as Lloyd Jones ramps up its exposure in senior living. Indeed, the Miami-based real estate investment firm closed on five community purchases in 2022 with four closings expected in the coming weeks.

Earlier this year, Lloyd Jones announced its plans to unload about 80% of its multifamily holdings in an effort to prioritize senior living three years after launching the Aviva active adult brand.

In recent weeks, the firm announced a merger with Miami-based Drive Development partners, acquired a pair of communities with plans to add to the Aviva portfolio, and made headway on its ambitious project to repurpose distressed hotels into senior living communities.

Lloyd Jones is particularly interested in serving a middle-market price point, and is pursuing various strategies to achieve this, including by acquiring and repurposing older senior living communities. Serving the middle-market is an “opportunity of a lifetime,” Lloyd Jones COO Tod Petty said earlier this year on an episode of the Senior Housing News TRANSFORM podcast.
