Greystar Secures Land for Active Adult Community in Arizona

Greystar has closed on the land for a new active adult community slated to open in Arizona in late 2022.

The new community, Album Marana, is slated to include apartment homes with modern features and finishes, with residents leading events, clubs, classes and activities.

If all goes according to plan, the community will open in late 2022.

Sagestone, Arbor Plan Tennessee Community

Sagestone Partners and The Arbor Company are developing a new senior living community in Memphis, Tennessee.

The 237-unit independent living, assisted living and memory care community is called Opus East Memphis, and planned amenities include multiple dining venues, a fitness center and on-site therapy and rehabilitation for residents. Included in the 237 unit total are 47 cottages.

The community is currently on track to welcome residents in 2023.

Charter, DMK Announce Plan to Open Community in Kentucky

Charter Senior Living and DMK Development Group are partnering on the development of a new senior living community in Madisonville, Kentucky.

DMK has secured land for a community that is planned to have 54 assisted living and 25 memory care apartments in styles ranging from studios to two-bedrooms. Amenities include multiple dining venues, a beauty and barber salon, library, fitness center, landscaped courtyards, putting green and outdoor gardens.

Work Underway for Touchmark Community in Texas

Construction crews are now conducting site work for Touchmark at Emerald Lake, a planned 81-acre senior housing campus in McKinney, Texas.

Initial plans call for 149 for independent living, six duplexes, 84 assisted living and 32 memory care residences, with another construction phase to follow that. Planned amenities include lakeside trails, outdoor spaces and open-air dining and entertainment venues.

Serving as general contractor for the project is Andres Construction. The project team also includes Three Living Architecture, interior designer StudioSIX5, civil engineer Kimley-Horn and landscape designer Talley Associates.

New York Assisted Living Community Nears Completion

Workers with construction company Eastman Cooke & Associates are on the last leg of building Central Assisted Living, an assisted living community in Queens, New York.

As planned, the community includes 12 units and resident lounges, a dining and recreational area, laundry rooms, staff offices and a lobby.

Validus Senior Living Opens First Independent Living Community

Validus Senior Living has opened its first independent living community, Inspirations at Town Center, located in Jacksonville, Florida.

The community has 169 apartments and amenities including a spa with a salon and massage services; wellness and fitness center; outdoor walking paths; a zero–entry outdoor pool; an outdoor grilling area; putting green; pickleball courts; dog park; and climate-controlled storage.

Validus undertook the project as part of an ongoing relationship with Baxter Development.

RLC Opens First Community in Virginia

Resort Lifestyle Communities (RLC) is continuing its spree of openings in 2021 with the grand opening of Tuckahoe Pines Retirement Community in Richmond, Virginia, last month.

The $30 million, 180,000 square foot community is RLC’s first location in Virginia. It is equipped with amenities such as an in-house bank, pharmacy, general store and salon.

Now Open: Milestone, Alliance Community in Washington

Milestone Retirement and Alliance Residential have opened Holden Southcenter, an assisted living and memory care community in Tukwila, Washington.

Leading the new 138-unit community is Executive Director Shane Fowler, who joined the community this month. He previously worked as executive director of a Sunrise Senior Living community, and he has 14 years of experience overall.

Avenir Opens Los Angeles Memory Care Community

Avenir Senior Living has opened Avenir Memory Care Westside, a new memory care community in Los Angeles.

The 88-unit community includes amenities geared toward residents living with cognitive impairment, including outdoor patios, courtyards, an atrium sunroom, movie theater and hair salon.

Ohio CCRC Opens Health and Rehab Center

Friendship Village of Dublin, a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in Dublin, Ohio, has opened a new health and rehab center.

The Alderwood Health and Rehab center offers post-acute and skilled nursing care for residents in transition back to their home as well as long-term care. The center has 36 private suites that are equipped with bi-polar ionization air filtration systems, as well as a Central Ohio Primary Care (COPC) satellite office.

More Affordable Senior Housing Open Near Los Angeles

Meta Housing Corporation and Western Community Housing recently celebrated the opening of Arboleda Senior Apartments, an affordable 74-unit multifamily community in La Puente, California.

The new community has one- and two-bedroom units for residents to pay rents ranging from 40% to 70% below market rate along with amenities such as a multi-purpose community room, fitness room, computer center, library, courtyard, a second-story terrace and gated parking.

To finance the project, Meta Housing partnered with Bank of America, California Community Reinvestment Corporation, Los Angeles County Development Authority and the California Tax Credit Allocation Committee.

— Reuten Associates and Metropolis Property Group have submitted for local approval plans to develop a 195-unit senior housing community in Closter, New Jersey. The project plans were detailed in a Pipeline post from August.

— A $25 million senior living project is under consideration in Villa Park, Illinois.

— Iowa City, Iowa, could get a new senior living community with 120 units.

— MorningStar Senior Living is seeking to build a 160-unit assisted living and memory care community in Fort Collins, Colorado.

— National Church Residences plans to convert a church in Columbus, Ohio, into a 103-unit independent living community.

— A Watercrest Senior Living community in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina is nearly ready to hold a grand opening after receiving its certificate of occupancy.

Construction is underway for a 175-unit active adult community in Waxahachie, Texas.

— Acts Retirement has broken ground on a new $59 million expansion project at a CCRC it manages in Matthews, North Carolina.

Work is underway on a new LCB Senior Living community in Basking Ridge, New Jersey.

— A new luxury-focused 142-unit senior living community has opened in Fresno, California.

— An independent living community in Tampa, Florida, is weeks away from debuting new renovations.
