Atria-Holiday Proceeds With Integration, Right-Sizing of Corporate Office

Atria Senior Living is making progress on its plan to fully integrate with Holiday Retirement and combine the company’s operations — including through right-sizing the corporate team.

Leaders with Louisville, Kentucky-based Atria announced the progress on Wednesday. Atria acquired the management business of Winter Park, Florida-based Holiday earlier this year.

The two companies are currently in the midst of merging six departments: finance; accounting; legal; IT; human resources; and marketing and sales. The teams working in those departments are on track to start working from Louisville no later than January 1, 2022.

“Atria and Holiday both have a culture and history of making support of the operators in the field the highest priority,” Atria CEO John Moore told Senior Housing News. “And we think the combined back office will put us in a position to enhance resources and improve support for the Holiday team.”

Atria offered a number of Holiday employees working in Florida jobs in Louisville, with some having declined the offer. Atria said that it will also cut 77 positions previously based in Winter Park, as they “are not part of the newly integrated support center operations.”

Atria expects the layoffs will occur from about December 2021 to June 2022, and leadership said the company is offering a series of free workshops during work hours for associates on topics such as resume updating, networking, social media and interviewing.

“We have also made sure that communication has been clear with those whose jobs are affected and have put in place retention arrangements to reward them for helping us through the process,” Moore said.

Lilly Donohue is retaining her title as CEO of Holiday, and she is “playing a key role in and through the integration, as well as working with the team, focusing on the future of the Holiday product,” Moore added.

Not every Holiday employee who is staying on with the combined company is making the move to Louisville. Moore said Atria has identified roles for a third or more of Holiday’s support center team, who will continue to work in the company’s Florida office or remotely.
