Saint Therese Plans to Renovate Flagship Community, Build ‘Urbanist Village’ Project

Saint Therese is planning to renovate and expand its flagship senior living community in New Hope, Minnesota; and build a new community with an “urbanist village” design in nearby Corcoran. The state of Minnesota recently gave both projects the OK to move ahead.

At Saint Therese of New Hope, the organization is rebuilding its care center, going from 214 beds to 160 by renovating units into larger, more homelike rooms with private bathrooms and showers. The renovations will also bring a warm water therapy pool and a town center design with a chapel, kitchen and public restaurant. Workers also will overhaul the center’s heating and cooling system.

Saint Therese of New Hope also plans to add a new independent living apartment building with 54 units, and renovate and remodel an attached independent living and assisted living building. and renovate and remodel its existing independent living and assisted living building.

The $82 million project at Saint Therese of New Hope is slated to break ground in spring 2022, with an expected completion date in 2025.

And in Corcoran, Minnesota, the organization is planning to build a community with an “urbanist village” design that includes an outdoor plaza and amphitheater, fitness center, cafe and ice cream shop. The $70 million community is planned to have a 64-bed skilled nursing care center, a transitional care unit and a four-story, 154-apartment building for independent living and assisted living residents.

Workers are set to break ground on the community in spring 2022 with an expected completion date in 2023.

Virginia CCRC Adds Highrise Tower in $145M Project

Harbor’s Edge, a continuing care retirement community in Norfolk, Virginia, has opened a 24-story senior living highrise.

The new tower contains 147 residences on all 24 of the tower’s floors, including two penthouse levels. The expansion also added 100,000 square feet of amenities and common space, including three restaurants, a lobby bar, media room, golf simulator, spa, salon, indoor swimming and aerobics spaces, game rooms and card rooms, billiards parlor, art studio and theater.

The tower was part of a $145 million project at the existing Harbor’s Edge CCRC that included contributions from design architect Three, architect of record Clark Nexsen, interior designer StudioSIX5 and construction provider W.M. Jordan Company.

Greystar Opens Active Adult Communities in Georgia, Texas

Greystar is now moving in residents at Everleigh Duluth, an active adult community in Duluth, Georgia; and the company is also now accepting move-ins at Album Benbrook, an active adult community in Benbrook, Texas.

Everleigh Duluth has 180 apartment homes with granite countertops, wood-style plank flooring, walk-in closets and acoustic padding for noise reduction. Amenities include space for social hours, culinary gatherings, educational events, resident-led clubs or yoga and fitness classes.

Album Benbrook is located in a residential neighborhood and includes one- and two-bedroom unit layouts. Like Everleigh Duluth, the community also will host social, culinary, educational, fitness and cultural events.

Wickshire Opens Newly Renovated Florida Community

Wickshire Senior Living has opened a newly renovated senior living community in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

The 293-unit community has a heated pool, a technology center and other amenities.

Erickson CCRC in Michigan Adds Assisted Living Neighborhood

Fox Run, a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) managed by Erickson Senior Living in Novi, Michigan, has opened a new assisted living wing.

The neighborhood, Windsor Terrace, has units ranging from studios to one- and two- bedroom apartments, and is located next to the community’s continuing care building.

The new neighborhood was part of Fox Run’s multi-year expansion and renovation plan. Brinkmann Constructors worked as the project’s builder.

Dominium Opens Affordable Senior Housing Community in Georgia

Dominium has opened Covington Crossings, a 198-unit affordable senior housing community in Covington, Georgia.

Residents can choose among units with one to three bedrooms with one, one-and-a-half or two bathrooms. Amenities include a hair salon, library, laundry room, theater room, fitness room and storage space.

McShane Construction Company constructed the project, while Martin Riley Associates provided architectural services.

Latitude Margaritaville Development in Florida Opens Second Amenity Phase

Latitude Margaritaville Daytona Beach in Daytona Beach, Florida, has opened the second phase of its resort-style amenities.

The new amenities include a building with a conference room and individual workstations, an arts and crafts room and a pottery studio; multi-purpose rooms for seminars, games, or activities; a work space equipped with table saws, sanders and other equipment; a pet spa; indoor lap pool; two additional tennis courts; three pickleball courts; bocce ball courts with lighting; and a theater.
