Goodwin House Plans Virginia Community

Goodwin House Incorporated, which manages two life plan communities in Northern Virginia, has plans to open another campus in the D.C. area.

The operator has laid plans to develop and operate a senior living community in the Avonlea master-planned development from Peterson Companies in Chantilly, Virginia. Plans call for a community offering independent living, assisted living and memory care services along with home health care and hospice.

If all goes according to plan, the community will open in 2025.

Tradition Senior Living Starts Work on Texas Community

Tradition Senior Living has started construction on The Tradition-Clearfork in Fort Worth, a luxury community in Fort Worth, Texas.

The 214-residence community is planned to include a nine-story independent living building and a five-story assisted living and memory care building located on the same site. Amenities include multiple dining venues, lounges, card rooms, a movie theater, common areas, an indoor pool, weight room, group-exercise room and a dog park.

Jackson & Ryan Architects is the project’s architect of record and Rogers-O’Brien Construction is general contractor. Tradition plans to open the community in 2023.

Ryan Cos. Breaks Ground on Minnesota Senior Living Project

Ryan ­­­Companies and project partners Great Lakes Management and Artemis Real Estate Partners have announced the groundbreaking of Talamore Senior Living Woodbury in Woodbury, Minnesota.

The 200-unit independent living, assisted living and memory care community is slated to come with amenities including multiple dining venues, a library, wellness and telehealth center with fitness facilities, spa and salon, club room, activity room and a large gathering space.

Ryan Cos. is acting as the project’s developer, builder and capital markets partner, while Ryan Architecture + Engineering is the design architect and is providing interior design, landscape architecture and civil engineering services to the project. Other project partners include architect UrbanWorks and lender Bell Bank.

Ryan, Great Lakes Management and Artemis are set to own Talamore Woodbury, with Great Lakes operating it.

RLC to Host Groundbreaking for Michigan Community

Resort Lifestyle Communities (RLC) is set to break ground on an independent living community in Northville, Michigan, on Oct. 7.

The $30 million, 180,000 square foot community is planned to have a public-facing in-house bank, pharmacy, gift shop and salon. Prospective residents can choose from studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartment layouts.

Active Adult Community Coming Together in Texas

A new senior living community from the City of Beaumont Housing Authority in partnership with Brinshore Development is coming together in Beaumont, Texas.

The 200-unit community is slated to come with amenities such as a fitness center, computer learning center, health screening room, community room, pickleball court, space for barbecuing, a dog park, sensory garden, and a fountain.

Units in the four-story community are set to come with Energy Star appliances, nine-foot ceilings, and covered patios and balconies.

Cadence McShane Construction is the project’s builder, while Steinberg Dickey Collaborative is working as project architect. The project partners expect to complete the community in 2022.

Brightview Opens Maryland Community

Brightview Senior Living has opened a new senior living community in Columbia, Maryland.

The community, Brightview Columbia, spans 170 studio-, one- and two-bedroom units with granite countertops and balconies. Residents have access to amenities including a pub, billiards, shuffleboard, outdoor gardens, courtyards, bocce ball courts, library, computer room, card room, art studio, salon, fitness studio and juice bar.

The community was designed with inspiration from the nearby historic Athol Manor, which Brightview restored in addition to also revitalizing a nearby park.

Anthology to Hold Grand Opening for Virginia Community

Anthology Senior Living is set to host a grand opening ceremony on Sept. 30 for Anthology of Tuckahoe, a new senior living community in Henrico, Virginia.

The 150-apartment independent living, assisted living and memory care community has amenities such as gardens, a golf simulator, recreational spaces, spa and a fitness center.

Household Memory Care Community Now Open in Ohio

A new household-style memory care community has opened in Powell, Ohio.

The 64-suite community, Ganzhorn Suites, is composed of four small households that function independently from one another. Each household comes with a kitchen, dining area, den, sunroom, laundry room and courtyard.

Chicago Life Plan Community Updates Skilled Nursing, Rehab Wing

Smith Village, a life plan community in Chicago, has completed a $23 million modernization of its skilled care and short-term rehab wing.

The project quadrupled the number of private suites and rooms for rehab and skilled nursing care residents, and Smith Village also built a three-story addition with therapy areas and dining rooms.

Other recent updates at the community included a new pub and theater and a facelift for Smith Village’s community hall and main entrance.

— New Bern, South Carolina, is set to get a new 105-unit senior living community.

— A luxury senior living community could replace an elementary school in Hauppauge, New York.

— A senior living community from The Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods in Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana, is on track for a November opening.

Construction has started for a 20-story, 224-unit senior living community in downtown Honolulu.

— Ryan Cos., Wesley Homes and Presbyterian Homes & Services have opened a new community in Bonney Lake, Washington.
