New President, CEO for National Lutheran Communities & Services

National Lutheran Communities & Services (NLCS) has chosen Cyndi Walters to serve as the organization’s next president and CEO. Walters is set to on Aug. 1 succeed current CEO Larry Bradshaw, who is retiring after 12 years with NLCS.

Walters has worked with NLCS over a period of nine years, first as a consultant and then as the organization’s COO. She has 30 years of experience in the senior living industry overall.

LifeSpire Names Chief Strategy, Integration Officer; Chief Marketing Officer

LifeSpire of Virginia has bolstered its executive team with the appointment of Lisa Legeer as the organization’s new chief strategy and integration officer and the promotion of Peter Robinson to chief marketing officer.

In her new role as chief strategy and integration officer, Legeer is tasked with growing LifeSpire’s topline revenues and adding other complimentary business lines to the company’s offerings. She also will help lead the organization’s acquisition, merger and affiliation opportunities.

Legeer has more than 20 years of experience in senior living and health care and previously worked as senior vice president of strategic partnerships for GlynnDevins.

As chief marketing officer, Robinson will provide oversight, strategic direction and leadership for LifeSpire’s sales and marketing operations. He previously worked as the organization’s vice president of marketing and public relations, a role he held since 2011.

Essex Communities Names Vice President, Chief Development Officer

Essex Communities has named Camille Burke to the role of vice president and chief development officer.

At Essex, Burke will oversee community operations and help lead the company’s growth plans through acquisitions, new development, property management and consulting for the active adult and independent living providers.

Burke has more than 20 years of experience in the senior housing industry, including at Christian Living Communities, where she served as COO and later, interim chief executive officer.

MBK Promotes Two to New Leadership Roles

MBK Senior Living has promoted Diana Engle to the role of national Director of Resident Enrichment and Courtney Hill to Regional Director of Operations.

Engle previously worked at MBK Senior Living as regional director of resident enrichment, while Hill last worked as an executive director.

The announcement came as MBK said it was seeing its second month in a row of record move-ins.

Solstice Expands Corporate Team With Three New Sales Specialists

Solstice Senior Living has added to its corporate team Laura Hicks and Mary Swip-Benoist as divisional sales specialists and Niccole Ohlemeyer Eye as a senior living specialist.

Hicks has more than 10 years of sales and marketing experience in senior living and most recently worked as a corporate sales specialist at Anthology Senior Living. Swip-Benoist, who is returning to Solstice, previously worked as the manager of business development for ProMedica and Heartland Hospice. Eye has 15 years of senior living experience and most recently worked as an internet sales manager for The Arbor Company.

New Administrator at Illinois Life Plan Community

Monarch Landing, a life plan community in Naperville, Illinois, recently announced the appointment of Beth VanDerWal as administrator.

VanDerWal replaced previous administrator Richard Nolden, who transitioned to director of strategic initiatives and projects. VanDerWal previously worked as assistant administrator, a role that was developed for her in 2020.

Spring Hills Names ED for New Jersey Community

Spring Hills Senior Communities has named Shain Cohen as the executive director Spring Hills Livingston Assisted Living in Livingston, New Jersey.

Cohen has about 30 years of experience in senior care, and has held roles over the years including activity director, sales and marketing director and regional director of business development.

Standard Communities Names Director of East Coast Asset Management

Standard Communities, the affordable housing division of Standard Companies, has named Jay Wilson to the role of director of East Coast asset management.

Wilson has more than 15 years of asset management experience and joins the organization after working at Enterprise Community Development.

Standard also announced the hiring of Daniel Korn as an acquisitions analyst; Denis Smith as a West Coast construction project manager; Ken Stay as an East Coast construction manager; and Margaret Eck as outside legal counsel.

Vium Capital Adds Four Senior Managing Directors to Leadership Team

Vium Capital has hired Chris Blanda, Brendan Healy, Scott Blount and Tony Ruberg as senior managing directors.

In their new roles, Blanda and Healy are tasked with focusing on the Midwest, Southeast and Mid-Atlantic regions; Ruberg will focus on the East Coast; and Blount will focus on origination in the South-central and Southwestern regions in addition to helping mentor the company’s analytical pool.

AG Architecture Names Director of Business Development

Katie Miller has joined AG Architecture as director of business development.

In her new role, she will work with the firm’s clients to consider project priorities in addition to the needs and wants of different stakeholders.
