Ascension Names Chief Medical Officer of Senior Care

Ascension has named Rafael Bloise as the organization’s new chief medical officer of senior care.

The new role will task Bloise with overseeing clinical direction and strategy for Ascension’s senior housing and care subsidiary, Ascension Living. He also will help implement a national palliative care strategy for Ascension.

Bloise previously worked as regional medical director of the palliative and support care program at Mercy Health West Michigan.

Dallas Community Inks Culinary Partnership with Celebrity Chef

Edgemere, a life plan community in Dallas, has partnered with Chef Tre Wilcox for a new mentorship program that began earlier this month.

Wilcox is taking an advisory role at Edgemere to help guide and train the community’s executive chef, Armando Can-Cen, and its culinary team. Wilcox will help steer the development of the community’s recipes, signature dishes, plating concepts, and menus. He also will participate in resident town halls and food committee meetings and host cooking demonstrations alongside Can-Cen.

Wilcox is a two-time James Beard Award nominee who has appeared on “Top Chef” and “Iron Chef America.”

Capital Senior Appoints Vice President of Information Technology

Capital Senior Living (NYSE: CSU) appointed Jay Reed as its vice president of information technology.

In his new role, Reed will help guide the company’s information technology strategy and lead its IT departments, such as network development, security, systems and desktop support. He most recently worked as a partner at management consulting firm CIO Suite.

Oklahoma Life Plan Community Welcomes New CFO

Montereau, a life plan community in Tulsa, Oklahoma, has welcomed Saunya Moore as its new chief financial officer.

Moore comes to the community from not-for-profit community health center Morton Comprehensive Health Services, where she worked as CFO and vice president of administration and finance.

EPOCH Names Vice President of Clinical Services

Meghan Cook has joined EPOCH Senior Living as its vice president of clinical services.

In that role, she will help steer the provider’s clinical outcomes; set and implement policy and procedures; and conduct education, training and peer reviews.

Cook previously worked as corporate clinical director, executive director and director of nursing services for a multi-state senior living provider.

WesleyLife Hires VP of Clinical Excellence

WesleyLife has hired Liz Davidson as its vice president of clinical experience.

In her new role, Davidson will lead WesleyLife’s clinical efforts, manage regulatory standards and quality for the organization’s home- and community-based service line, and promote service integration.

Davidson was most recently director of clinical services and nurse consultant for LeadingAge Iowa.

Watermark Names Memory Care Director for Brooklyn Community

Maureen Graf is the new memory care program director at The Watermark at Brooklyn Heights, the $330 million community that Watermark Retirement Communities opened last year in the New York City borough of Brooklyn.

As memory care director, Graf is responsible for developing memory care programming and training the community’s staffers on maintaining a homelike setting for residents.

She has about two decades of senior care experience, and previously worked as director of therapeutic recreation at Eger Health Care in Staten Island. She also spent time with Atria Senior Living.

Cadence Names VP of Family Engagement, Quality Assurance

Perry Ryan has joined Cadence Living’s management team as the company’s vice president of family engagement and quality assurance.

In his new role, Perry will lead Cadence’s efforts to enhance customer experience for residents and their families. Before coming aboard at Cadence, Perry worked as an entrepreneur and business owner who helped guide companies in managing customer experiences.

Integral Senior Living Announces New Regional Director; Leadership at California Community

Integral Senior Living (ISL) has named Sherry Spacek to the role of regional director of sales and marketing and announced three other appointments at a community in California.

As regional director of sales and marketing, Spacek is tasked with overseeing sales and marketing efforts for several ISL communities. She has more than 15 years of senior care experience, and most recently worked as regional vice president of operations and marketing for Northstar Senior Living.

ISL also announced three hirings for its new La Marea Senior Living community in Carlsbad, California. The company hired Launa Cornell as executive director, Kimberly Santillian as senior director of sales and marketing and Gabriela Alvarado as director of sales and marketing. All three have many years of experience working in senior living.

Erickson Living Names First Executive Director at Florida Community

Erickson Living has named Michael McCormick as the first executive director of Siena Lakes, a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in Naples, Florida.

McCormick first came aboard at Erickson Living in 1995 as director of health services at a community in Catonsville, Maryland. He has worked as executive director of a community in Novi, Michigan, for the last 18 years.

He also serves as a committee chair on Erickson Living’s diversity and inclusion committee.

Buckner Hires Health Care Services Administrator for Houston Community

Buckner Retirement Services hired Kara Bayer as the new health care services administrator for Buckner Parkway Place, a faith-based senior living community in Houston.

Bayer has worked with older adults since 2017, when she worked as an assisted living and memory care director.

Cypress Appoints IT Infrastructure Manager

Cypress Living has named Chris Stalbaum as an IT infrastructure manager.

Stalbaum is tasked with infrastructure administration, desktop administration and cyber security efforts for Cypress Living. He previously led technology efforts at the Boone Township School District in Hebron, Indiana.

Roper Joins G5 Leadership Team as Senior Living VP

Digital marketing firm G5 has added Katie Roper to its leadership team as vice president of senior living.

As vice president of senior living, Roper will help manage the firm’s strategy and the business processes of its sales team. She will also help drive revenue growth and new client acquisition.

Roper was the founding head of sales and industry marketing for Caring.com, and has also written and spoken on caregiving and senior care over the years.

LifeSpire Welcomes Four Board Members

Sharon Brooks; John Jung, Jr.; Pamela Parsons; and John Poma have joined the board of LifeSpire of Virginia.

All of the new members bring different skills to the table. Brooks is the chief marketing officer for 2Life Communities, and has more than 30 years of senior living experience. Jung recently retired as senior managing director and head of capital markets at BB&T, while Parsons is a registered nurse with more than 25 years of experience as a geriatric nurse practitioner. Poma works as the chief legal counsel for Tidewater Physicians Multispecialty Group, P.C., and also teaches as an adjunct professor at the law school of William & Mary.

Erdle Joins Goodwin’s Board of Trustees

Goodwin House’s board of trustees has elected Garrett Erdle to serve as a member.

Erdle is the founder and principal of Eleventh Street Development, and well-versed in the entire development process, including land acquisition, permitting, site plan development and collaboration with local stakeholders.

OneDay Names VP of Client Success

Eric Varin is the new VP of client success at OneDay, technology company that provides video storytelling within senior living communities.

Varin is an 11-year senior living industry veteran who previously worked as vice president of sales and marketing for Allegro Senior Living, a OneDay partner.

OneDay also made several other personnel announcements:

  • Victoria Repice has joined OneDay as its vice president of product. She previously worked as the vice of product management at SiriusXM.
  • Deena Naccarella was promoted to the role of CFO. She previously worked as previously OneDay’s vice president of finance.
  • Carter Severns, previously OneDay’s director of marketing, is now its vice president of marketing.

Enquire Names Chief Information Security Officer

Enquire, a provider of cloud CRM, marketing automation, and contact center solutions for senior living communities, has named Craig Riley as its chief information security officer.

As chief information security officer, Rile will build and maintain an information security strategy and program. He is also tasked with identifying and mitigating information security risks and implementing security policies and procedures, among other responsibilities.

Sentrics Adds Kramer to Advisory Council

Sentrics has added NIC Co-Founder and Nexus Insights Founder and President Bob Kramer to its advisory council.

As a member of the advisory council, Kramer will provide guidance and insight on the trends impacting the senior living industry. Other members of the council include Kai Hsiao, CEO of Eclipse Senior Living; Anne Tumlinson, founder and CEO of ATI Advisory; Jerry Frumm, vice chairman and chief investment officer of Senior Lifestyle; Keven Bennema, founder and CEO of Charter Senior Living; and Bernie Wess, founder and president of Protoncare and Perseid Software.
