Charter, DMK Announce Plans for Michigan Community
Charter Senior Living and DMK Development Group have announced joint plans to develop and build a $14 million senior living community in Linden, Michigan.
DMK Development Group secured about 8.25 acres of land for purchase, with the intention of putting an 81-unit assisted living and memory care community there. Planned amenities include a bistro, multiple dining areas, an activity room, beauty and barber salon, library, courtyards, a putting green and a fitness center.
If all goes according to plan, construction could start as soon as this fall, with a possible completion as early as fall 2021.
WellSpire Seeks to Replace Iowa Community
WellSpire, a company made possible by a joint-venture between WesleyLife and Genesis Health System, is looking to replace a senior living community in DeWitt, Iowa.
Wellspire seeks to replace the community, Westwing Place, with a new community that will offer assisted living, memory care, short-term rehab and long-term care. The project hinges on the completion of a $5 million capital campaign led by The DeWitt Community Hospital Foundation.
Should the project go forward, the community will bear the name Fieldstone of DeWitt.
Mixed-Use Project Near Miami to Include Senior Living
MedSquare Place, a medical office building in development near Miami, is set to include some senior housing.
Plans for MedSquare Place includes medical offices with an independent living community in the same complex. Construction on the 37,000-square-foot medical office project is set to begin this summer, with WellMed Medical Management planned as an anchor tenant.
The project is from owners and developers AJP Ventures and Mas Group.

Confluent, HRA Working On Maine Community
Construction has begun for a new senior living community from Confluent Senior Living and Harbor Retirement Associates (HRA) in South Portland, Maine.
The community, HarborChase of South Portland, will have 123 units and offer assisted living and memory care. Cushman & Wakefield Senior Housing Capital Markets advised Confluent on the project’s construction financing.
The community is expected to open in the summer of 2021.
Leo Brown Group Breaks Ground on Ohio Community
Leo Brown Group has started construction on Traditions of Lebanon, a $35 million, 146-unit senior living community in Lebanon, Ohio.
Leo Brown Group will manage the community through its operations company, Traditions Management. Amenities include multiple dining venues, a theater room, fitness center, beauty salon and barbershop, library, chapel, walking paths and outdoor common spaces.
Work Continues for Green House Project in Colorado
Pinkard Construction and the Loveland Housing Authority are still on schedule for the construction of new Green House Project homes at Mirasol, a senior living community in Loveland, Colorado.
The expansion is set to add three new Green House homes, for a total of nine residences that will house up to 90 older adults. The first new residents are expected to move in by fall of this year.
The project’s architect of record is Lantz-Boggio Architects.
Affordable Senior Housing Project Underway in Illinois
Construction is set to begin soon for a new affordable senior housing community from the General Capital Group in Johnsburg, Illinois.
The Oakbrook Corporation will manage 68-unit community, which is planned at the site of a former elementary school. Joseph J. Duffy Co is the project’s general contractor, and Hooker DeJong Architects is the architect.
