Cypress Cove at HealthPark Florida Planning $60M Active Adult Community

Cypress Cove at HealthPark Florida, a continuing care retirement community in Fort Myers, Florida, will build a $60 million luxury active adult community as part of the community’s expansion, the Fort Myers News Press reports.

The 62-and-over community will three six-story buildings with 24 apartments each, along with 10 villas. Construction will not begin until 70% of units are pre-sold.

New Perspective Building Community in Chicago Suburb

New Perspective Senior Living announced it is building a new senior living community, New Perspective – Elgin, in the Chicago suburb of Elgin, Illinois.

The four-story building at South Randall Road and South Street will provide independent living, assisted living and Betty’s Harbor, a secure neighborhood specifically designed for those with memory loss. Amenities will include a modern fitness center highlighted by an indoor, warm-water pool; a dance hall and movie theater; and a two-story lobby decked out with fireplaces, water features and natural stone appointments.

ZOM Senior Living Breaks Ground on Florida Community

ZOM Senior Living broke ground on Phase 1 of Wellington Bay, a $180 million, multi-phase senior rental community in Palm Beach County, Florida.

Located on a 46-acre lakefront parcel adjacent to The Mall at Wellington Green, Phase 1 will include 283 independent living, assisted living and memory care units. The centerpiece of the community is a two-story, 65,000-square-foot clubhouse and amenity building with multiple dining venues, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, spa, salon and wellness center, billiards and cards room, and a theater.

At full build-out, Wellington Bay will include 424 units and the project is on track to receive first move-ins in Summer 2021. ZOM is partnering with Liberty Senior Living, and funds managed by an affiliate of Ares Management Corporation on the development.

Laurel Circle to Break Ground on $8M Revitalization Plan

This week, Laurel Circle in Bridgewater, New Jersey will kick off an $8 million revitalization plan aimed at updating and improving community infrastructure and amenities for residents. Laurel Circle is owned and operated by Des Moines, Iowa-based LCS.

The community’s wellness center will see some of the most dramatic changes, including new gym equipment to better suit residents’ needs. In addition, Laurel Circle will add a new outpatient clinic to provide more comprehensive, flexible health services.

The plan also calls for major upgrades to the community’s salon by creating a spa-like atmosphere for residents to enjoy. This includes new salon equipment with new capacities for manicures, pedicures and massages.

South Bay Partners Begins Construction of California Community

South Bay Partners announced that construction is underway on The Variel, an eight-story active adult community in Woodland Hills, California.

The Variel will include 215 independent living units, 94 assisted living units and 29 memory care units, within walking distance of master-planned neighborhood Warner Center. It is the first project in a planned West Coast expansion for Dallas-based South Bay, which is partnering with LAMB Properties and Columbia Pacific Advisors on the development. A leasing office will open this fall and first move-ins are expected in Winter 2021.

Oakmont of Torrance information Center Opens

Oakmont of Torrance, a new Oakmont Senior Living community in Torrance, California set to open this spring, opened an information center ahead of the community’s spring 2020 opening. The center will be open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

RCM 17-Story Houston Community Targeting May Opening

The Village of Southampton, a 17-story luxury senior living community from Retirement Center Management (RCM) in Houston, is set to open in May 2020.

The Village at Southampton is located near Rice University and Village, a shopping district near Houston’s West University neighborhood, and will offer independent living, assisted living and memory care options.

Resort Lifestyle Communities Opens New All-Inclusive Senior Living Community in Ohio

Resort Lifestyle Communities opened Deerfield Springs, a new retirement community for seniors age 55 and up in Loveland, Ohio. Deerfield Springs offers 128 apartments for rent in studio, 1, 2, and 3-bedroom options at one monthly price including utilities and no buy-in fee or long-term leases.

Amenities include an in-house bank, business center, pharmacy, fitness center, game room, 150-seat theatre, gift shop and salon, as well as a 24-hour chef’s pantry, happy hour lounge, dining room and unique “Freedom Dining” program offering a variety of dining experiences.

Phoenix Senior Living Opens South Carolina Assisted Living Community

Phoenix Senior Living will open The Colonial at Old Camden, a 43-unit assisted living and memory care community in Camden, South Carolina, in March. Phoenix formed a joint venture with Whitehall Development Group to open the facility.

The 31,000-square-foot property features amenities including interior and exterior courtyards, private dining options for both memory care and assisted living residents, spa rooms, a movie theater, fitness center, activity rooms, a bistro/cafe, outdoor shade structures, soft seating, and soft and hard scaping.

Wiarton Retirement Residence Opens New Affordable Community in Ontario

Wiarton Retirement Residence, a family-owned and operated senior housing firm, opened a renovated affordable community in the Wiarton area of South Bruce Peninsula, Ontario. The community offers independent senior living and is located steps from downtown.

Menno Haven Opens New Life Center

Menno Haven opened a new life center building as part of the Chambersburg, Pennsylvania life plan community’s five-year strategic master plan, Project Genesis.

Designed by RDG Planning & Design, the 33,000-square-foot building features a restaurant and coffee shop, movie theater, art center, salon and spa and 250-seat banquet center, in addition to many spaces for gathering and outdoor activities. The project was funded through Menno Haven’s “Nurturing the Human Spirit” capital campaign.

This is the fourth collaboration between Menno Haven and RDG as part of Project Genesis.

— Hubertus, Wisconsin-based Top Leaf Development is planning a $7.2 million, 100-bed assisted living community in Milwaukee’s far northwest side.

— American House Senior Living and Southfield, Michigan-based real estate developer Redico are received approval from the village council of Oak Park, Illinois, to build a seven-story, 222-unit senior living community in the Chicago suburb. Construction is expected to begin later this year and the building will include 76 independent living units, 65 assisted living units and 33 memory care units.

— RLC will break ground on an independent living community in South Jordan, Utah, on February 19.

In progress

— Real Estate Equities began pre-leasing at The Winslow West St. Paul, its newest affordable senior living community in St. Paul, Minnesota. The project is expected to be completed and expecting first move-ins in June.

— Brightview Senior Living opened its latest assisted living facility in Sayville, New York. Consisting of 78 independent living units, 52 assisted living apartment homes and a 24-apartment memory care neighborhood, this is Brightview’s first community on Long Island.
