Presbyterian Senior Living Appoints Bernardo as CEO

Presbyterian Senior Living (PSL), one of the largest non-profit senior living providers in the nation, has named Jim Bernardo as president and CEO.

Following the retirement of Stephen Proctor, Bernardo took the role of acting CEO in June 2019. Bernardo has been with PSL for three decades, beginning his career as an executive director and rising to become executive vice president and COO, before taking his current position.

Dillsburg, Pennsylvania-based PSL operates a portfolio of about 30 locations throughout the mid-Atlantic. It was the 13th-largest nonprofit senior housing and care provider in the United States in 2018, according to rankings from LeadingAge and Ziegler.

“As CEO I look forward to collaborating with our leadership team to continue to provide visionary and innovative services and communities to support and grow the mission of PSL,” Bernardo stated in a press release issued Wednesday.

Earlier this year, PSL engaged in merger talks with Westminster Communities of Florida. The combined entity would have been the fifth-largest U.S. senior living nonprofit, but the organizations discontinued talks over the summer.
