Sonata, AEW Plan Florida Community

Sonata Senior Living and AEW Capital Management are teaming up on the development of a new senior living community in the master-planned community of Viera in Melbourne, Florida.

The planned community, Sonata Viera East, is slated to have 118 independent living and memory care residences. Amenities include a bistro bar, zero-entry heated pool, movie theater, arts studio, library, game room, bocce ball court, off-leash dog park, beauty salon and spa, and a wellness and fitness center.

Bessolo Design Group is the project’s architecture firm, and Certified General Contractors is handling construction. The community is scheduled to open in 2021.

Thrive Projects Under Construction in Georgia, Maryland

Thrive Senior Living recently announced plans to open senior living communities in Georgia and Maryland.

The communities — dubbed Thrive on Skidaway and Tribute at Black Hill — will open next year on Skidaway Island, Georgia, and in Germantown, Maryland, respectively. Thrive on Skidaway will house 146 residents, while Tribute at Black Hill will have 140.

Amenities at Thrive on Skidaway are set to include an athlete’s center, library, bistro, courtyard, salon, yoga bar, stretch lab, dog wash station, golf cart parking and areas for pickleball, billiards, bocce ball and card games. At Tribute at Black Hill, residents will have access to a creative studio, athlete’s center, cafe, library, salon and spa, gathering room and multiple terraces.

Both communities are under construction and are slated to open in 2020.

Work Underway for Liv, Ryan Cos. Project Near Mayo Clinic

Liv Communities and Ryan Companies US have started construction on today LivGenerations Mayo Blvd., a senior living community located 1.5 miles from the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona.

The community, LivGenerations Mayo Blvd., will have 181 units of independent living, assisted living and memory care. Amenities include a fitness center, salon, restaurant, pizza bar, outdoor dining patios, dog park, resort-style swimming pool with cabanas and an exercise area, an outdoor kitchen, bocce ball court, putting green and garage parking.

Todd & Associates is working as the community’s architect of record, while Thoma-Holec Design is handling the interiors. Ryan Companies is leading construction, with an expected completion date in 2021. Liv Communities will be the community’s operator.

Transforming Age Breaks Ground on Expansion in Seattle

Senior living nonprofit Transforming Age broke ground on Olympic Tower at Skyline, a 21-story building slated to provide 77 new residences on the campus of the Skyline CCRC in Seattle.

The new building will have a 240-seat performing arts center, a spa, bar and cafe, and a club room with panoramic views of the nearby Puget Sound and Olympic Mountains.

PCL Construction is building the community, with design by Ankrom Moisan Architects. The project is scheduled to wrap up in the fall of 2021.

Atlanta Life Plan Community Breaks Ground on $115 Million Expansion

Lenbrook, a life plan community in Atlanta, recently broke ground on a $115 million expansion

The expansion, Kingsboro at Lenbrook, is slated to add 53 independent residences. In total, the expansion is set to bring Lenbrook’s total number of residences to 479.

If all goes according to plan, the new residences are due to open in 2022.

Brookdale to Expand Tennessee Property

A Brookdale Senior Living (NYSE: BKD) community in Jackson, Tennesee, is adding a new memory care wing.

Workers recently broke ground on a 24-apartment memory care addition at Brookdale Jackson Oaks. The new single-story addition will offer the company’s Clare Bridge memory care program.

Currently, Brookdale Jackson Oats has 166 apartments.

Sales Office Opens at Forthcoming Virginia Community

There’s a new sales office at Aspire at Belmont Bay, a senior living community coming together in Woodbridge Virginia.

Aspire at Belmont Bay is owned by Bonaventure and will be managed by Solvere Living when it opens.

The four-story community will have 124 one- and two-bedroom monthly rental apartments, which will be available in seven floorplans. Amenities will include multiple dining venues, an indoor pool, fitness center, salon and spa, art studio, theater, meeting and game rooms.

Leisure Care Opens Oregon Community

Leisure Care has opened a new senior living community in Sherwood, Oregon.

The community, The Ackerly at Sherwood, has amenities including a spa and salon and a theater. Other services for residents include a fitness and wellness program called PrimeFit and an in-house travel agency.

Resort Lifestyle Communities Opens Community in Pennsylvania

Resort Lifestyle Communities has opened a new independent living community in Bridgeville, Pennsylvania.

The community has 128 apartments and amenities such as an in-house bank, business center, pharmacy, fitness center, game room, 150-seat theater, gift shop and salon.

Erickson Expands Communities in Maryland, New Jersey

Erickson Living has wrapped up expansion projects at two of its CCRCs in Maryland and New Jersey.

The company recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of a new, $47.5 million continuing care building at its Charlestown community in Cantonsville, Maryland.

The new building, dubbed the Wilton Overlook, will ultimately have room for 207 residents and comes with amenities such a multipurpose, activity and programming areas, a theater, salon, conference rooms, a games lounge, library and a card game room.

The ribbon-cutting marked the completion of the first of three phases. The architect for the project is Hord Coplan Macht, while the general contractor is Whiting Turner.

At Lantern Hill, an Erickson Living CCRC in New Providence, New Jersey, the company added a new independent living building called Bell Pavilion.

The expansion adds to the community 168 independent living apartments and amenities including multiple dining venues, an all-season pool and fitness center, medical center, art studio, library, theater and salon.

Mission Senior Living Opens Memory Care Expansion in Nevada

Mission Senior Living has completed an expansion of its memory care neighborhood at Summit Estates, a senior living community in Reno, Nevada.

The $900,000 project added room for eight more residents. Contractors and project partners included Framing, Inc., Eagles Crest Excavation, Western Pacific Electric, Pinnacle Architects, MSL Construction and Contract Interiors.

Pittsburgh Community Completes $39 Million Expansion

Friendship Village of South Hills, a retirement community in Pittsburgh, has wrapped up a $39.5 million expansion project.

The project added a new building with 50 assisted living apartments, 32 memory care suites and a handful of amenities.

Perkins Eastman worked as the architect for the project, while Lecesse Construction was the general contractor.
