MorningStar to Open Communities in Oregon, Colorado

MorningStar Senior Living is opening its third senior living community in Portland, Oregon, and its second community in Fort Collins, Colorado.

In Portland, the community, MorningStar Assisted Living and Memory Care at Laurelhurst, will have 113 units. Workers are set to break ground on the project in the second quarter of 2020.

In Fort Collins, co-developers MorningStar Senior Living and Haselden Real Estate Development are building a community with 160 units of independent living, assisted living and memory care. That community will open in the first quarter of next year.

Oakmont Plans Project in California

Oakmont Senior Living is planning to open a 135-apartment senior living community in East Sacramento, California.

The community, Oakmont of East Sacramento, will offer assisted living and memory care services, with planned amenities such as a bar, wine cellar, grand room, two movie theaters, resident gardens, a garden dining area, a bocce court and a pet park.

Element On Track to Start Work Next Year for New Canada Community

Element Lifestyle Retirement is on track to start work next year on an $88 million senior living community in Victoria, British Columbia.

The five-story community, Aquara by Element, will have 156 units located within the Bayview master planned community surrounded by residential towers a park and shopping venues.

Aquara is the third residence from Element Lifestyle Retirement. The company is also opening a $106 million flagship community in Vancouver; and another $200 million senior housing community in Langley.

Blake Plans Three Communities in Florida, Arkansas

Cardinal Ventures and its affiliated management partner, Blake Management Group, is poised to break ground on three new communities in Florida and Arkansas.

The companies will break ground on the 101-unit Blake at Hamlin in Winter Garden, Florida; a 101-unit assisted living and memory care community in central Florida; and a 101-unit assisted living and memory care community with an additional 41 independent living cottages in Little Rock, Arkansas. Work is set to begin on the Winter Garden community this fall, with the others starting construction in 2020.

The communities will have a mix of amenities and services that include utilization of iN2L (It’s Never Too Late), the Vigil Health Solutions nurse call system and Accushield, an evacuation management device for senior living communities. Other features include multiple dining venues, salons, movie theaters and an on-site physical therapy clinic.

Pennsylvania CCRC to Expand Terrace Home Neighborhood

Kirkland Village, a CCRC in Kirkland, Pennsylvania, is expanding its neighborhood of terrace homes.

The community recently announced plans for Northwood Gardens II, an expansion consisting of two new buildings with 18 independent living homes. The new homes will range in size from 1,400 to 2,100 square feet and come with open kitchens, large windows, walk-in closets, full-size laundry rooms and covered terraces. Other design features include an enclosed, heated and cooled walkways, sunrooms, storage areas on each floor, private entrances and lower-level garage parking.

Construction on Northwood Gardens II is set to begin in the fall of 2019.

Ohio CCRC to Add Independent Living Neighborhood

Western Reserve Masonic Community, which is operated by The Ohio Masonic Home, is adding a new independent living neighborhood.

The three-story addition, called The Palmary at Western Reserve Masonic Community, will have 99 homes and a common area with multiple dining venues, a fitness and wellness facility, a multipurpose room and a beauty salon and barbershop.

Construction of The Palmary is expected to start in the middle of 2020. Project partners include The Ohio Masonic Home, RDL Architects, RDL Interiors, McHenry & Associates, Mistick Construction, GPD Group, POD Design and Greystone Communities.

Resort Lifestyle Communities Holds Groundbreaking in Michigan

Resort Lifestyle Communities recently celebrate the groundbreaking of Rolling Hills, an independent living community in Commerce Township, Michigan.

The $30 million community will have an in-house bank, pharmacy, gift shop, and salon. Other services include an around-the-clock emergency call system, appointment transportation, concierge services and valet parking.

Work Underway for Active Adult Rental Community in Texas

Real estate firm Drever Capital Management (DCM) has started construction on Larkspur at Shadow Creek, a 257-unit active adult community in Pearland, Texas.

The 12-acre development will house a 42-cottage neighborhood in addition to 215 apartments. The community will also have 18,000 square feet of dedicated amenity space for residents. It’s also located 13 miles from the purported largest medical complex in the world, the Texas Medical Center.

The community’s first cottage units are slated to come online in the second half of 2020. DCM is also planning a third Larkspur community in New Braunfels, Texas, with others in the works, as well.

Construction Begins for Avesta Project in California

Workers with Sundt Construction recently started construction on Avesta Residences at Hamilton Hill, an 80-unit assisted living and memory care residence in Novato, California.

The project’s architect is LPAS. If all goes according to plan, construction will wrap up by the fall of 2020.

Forthcoming Legacy Community Makes Progress in Texas

The Legacy Senior Communities is celebrating a construction milestone at The Legacy Midtown Park, its forthcoming continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in Dallas.

The organization recently celebrated the topping off of the community’s health care center, which is slated to open in summer 2020. All told, The Legacy Midtown Park will have 325 units..

Legacy expects to open the community’s health care center building in the summer 2020, with the assisted living and memory care building is anticipated to open shortly after and the independent living slated to open in the first quarter of 2021.

Work Starts for Missouri Community

Construction is underway on Oak Pointe of Washington, an $8.5 million, 54- unit assisted living and memory care community in Washington, Missouri.

Oak Pointe of Washington’s project partners include Provision Living and ClearPath, which own and operate seven Oak Pointe senior living communities in the Show Me state.

Monthly rates start at $4,200, with private apartments and amenities such as a beauty salon, activity room, therapy space, common areas and two dining rooms. The community will also have landscaped courtyards, patios, and walkways.

ARCO Construction is general contractor for the project. If all goes according to plan, Oak Pointe of Washington will open in the spring of 2020.

Investcor, New Haven Renovating Community in Texas

Investcor and New Haven Assisted Living and Memory Care are renovating an assisted living community in Denton, Texas.

The project, Fairhaven Assisted Living, aims to breathe new life into the 47-unit building while preserving the design and intent of the original architect, O’Neil Ford.

The $9 million renovations include updating and expanding existing living spaces for more common areas and activity rooms, refurbishing the original wood-framed, floor-to-ceiling glass windows and adding a new HVAC and electrical system.

The project team is comprised of Investcor Development, New Haven Assisted Living and Memory Care, Pi Architects, Allison Engineering, TDi Engineering, MEP Associates Design Groups and Architexas.

Thrive Opens Georgia Community

Thrive Senior Living has celebrated grand opening of Thrive at Augusta, an 85-unit assisted living and memory care community in Martinez, Georgia.

The community carries amenities such as a backyard with fireplace, private porches, multiple dining options both indoor and outdoor, an exercise center, salon and spa, walking paths and a movie theater.

Erickson Living Opens Independent Living Residence at Virginia CCRC

Ashby Ponds, an Erickson Living CCRC in Ashburn, Virginia, has opened a new independent living building called Belmont Commons.

The new addition includes Belmont Commons adds 120 new apartment homes to Ashby Ponds with spacious layouts featuring modernized kitchens with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances, full-size washers and dryers and walk-in closets.

Ingleside Adds Independent Living, Memory Care Residences

Nonprofit senior living provider Ingleside has added new residences at two of its life plan communities.

Ingleside at King Farm and Ingleside at Rock Creek, located in Rockville, Maryland and Washington D.C, respectively, have new memory care assisted living residences. Residents residing in those settings can take part in programs offering music, art, movement, pet and recreational therapy.

The communities’ Centers for Healthy Living are also expanding, with new classrooms, instructional space, and amenities.

Additionally, Ingleside at King Farm’s Gardenside will add 120 independent living residences by the end of this year, and Ingleside at Rock Creek’s Creekside will add 105 independent living residences in early 2020.

Tutera Opens IL Apartments at Kansas City Community

Tutera Senior Living & Health Care recently opened 172 independent living apartment homes at Tiffany Springs, a $55 million community Kansas City.

The community’s 89 memory care and assisted living units are slated to be available later this month.

Amenities include a day spa and salon, multiple dining venues, an outdoor courtyard with a fire pit, yoga studio, art studio, theater room and a dog park.

Project partners included Nearing Staats Prelogar & Jones Architects, BHC RHODES and the Luke Draily Construction Company.

Wolff to Hold Grand Opening in Las Vegas

The Wolff Company is set to hold a grand opening for Revel Vegas, an independent living community in Las Vegas.

Revel Vegas has 132 studio, one- and two-bedroom independent living residences with amenities such as a salon and spa, fitness center, movie theater and a modern-American restaurant and pub created by celebrity chef Beau MacMillan.

Residents first moved into Revel Vegas in May.

— A sprawling development in the works in Harrison, Pennsylvania, could include 249 units of independent living.
