Minto Sells Land for Active Adult Development in Florida

Minto Communities USA has sold to Kolter Homes a 270-acre parcel within its 3,800-acre master-planned community, Westlake, for the development of an active adult neighborhood.

Kolter plans to build 800 homes in the Loxahatchee, Florida, community under its Cresswind brand, marking the first time Minto has brought an outside builder into Westlake.

Minto is currently also under contract to sell another parcel of land to a second homebuilder, a move it will announce soon.

Work Underway for Tradition Senior Living Highrise in Houston

Tradition Senior Living has opened an information center for its forthcoming Tradition-Woodway community in Houston.

The 23-story rental community will house 314 residences and include amenities such as valet parking, lounges and card rooms, a movie theater and an indoor golf simulator, secure parking garage, multiple dining venues, dog park and a putting green.

This represents the fourth campus developed by Tradition Senior Living.

Watercrest Breaks Ground in Florida

Watercrest Senior Living Group and United Properties recently celebrated the ceremonial groundbreaking of Watercrest Sarasota, a senior living community with 198 units in Sarasota, Florida.

Amenities include a promenade, fireplace, water wall, multiple dining venues, pool, salon and spa, grand balconies, outdoor living spaces and a faux-outdoor streetscape with LifeBUILT programming touches.

Walker and Company is building the community, which is currently on track to welcome residents in the summer of 2020.

This is the second senior living development project between Watercrest and United Properties. The first was, Watercrest Naples Assisted Living and Memory Care, a community under construction in Naples, Florida.

SRI Management Breaks Ground on Georgia Project

The Canopy Senior Living, along with Rimrock Companies and SRI Management, has broken ground on The Canopy at Warner Robins, a 64-unit assisted living and memory care community in Warner Robins, Georgia.

Planned amenities include kitchenettes in all of the community’s units, a wellness center, bistro and pub, private dining room, outdoor dining and a salon and spa.

SRI Management will manage the community once it opens. Group 4 Design designed the community, while Summit Contracting Group is leading construction.

Silverstone Starts Work on $75M Community in Virginia

Silverstone Senior Living recently started work on a $75 million senior living community with 154 assisted living and memory care apartments in Fairfax County, Virginia.

The community is set to open with multiple dining venues, a wellness and fitness center, salon, community activity room, creative art studio and game room. Assisted living residents will be able to use three outdoor terraces, including a rooftop terrace, while memory care residents will have their own secure terrace and outdoor seating areas.

The Fairfax community is one of three that Silverstone plans to begin construction on throughout the Washington, D.C. area this year. The company also plans to start work on a $76 million community in Rockville, Maryland, and on a $100-million community in Alexandria, Virginia’s Potomac Yard neighborhood.

Presbyterian Senior Living to Break Ground in Pennsylvania

Senior housing nonprofit Presbyterian Senior Living (PSL) announced plans this week to begin construction on LongCrest, a 52-apartment complex for older adults in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Amenities for tenants include a community kitchen, exercise and fitness room, laundry rooms, a game room, storage areas, a supportive service office, a mailroom and spaces for socializing.

The apartments will have units available in a range of income restrictions from 20% to 60% of the area median income. The Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency awarded Presbyterian Senior Living $12 million in tax credits for the project. The total cost of development is estimated around $19 million.

Work Starts for Primrose Community in Texas

Primrose Retirement Communities has announced plans to start construction on an 88-unit community in Tyler, Texas.

Primrose expects the community to open in the summer of 2020. CR Crawford is building the project, which is being financed by Texas Bank and Trust.

Primrose has more than 40 locations in 18 states.

Oakmont Community Opens Information Center

Oakmont of Camarillo — a senior living community in Camarillo, California, that is set to open this winter — has opened a marketing information center.

As planned, the community will have have 91 homes for residents and amenities such as a day spa, private movie theater, gardens, library, fitness center and a wellness center.

Dominion Sets Grand Opening for Kentucky Community

Dominion Senior Living is scheduled to celebrate the opening of its personal care and memory care community in Florence, Kentucky, its fourth in the state.

The community has 60 two-bedroom, one-bedroom and studio apartments for residents.

Company leaders with and local officials are slated to gather and celebrate the opening on May 15.

Meridian Community in Washington, D.C. Completes Renovations

Chevy Chase House Luxury Senior Living, a Meridian Senior Living community in Washington, D.C., has finished a $10.2 million renovation project.

The project focused on improvements and upgrades to the lobby, common spaces and residential apartments. The community has 131 assisted living apartments in a six-story, 119,000 square foot building.

Tutera Sets Opening for $55 Million Community in Kansas City

Tutera Senior Living and Health Care in June will open a new $55 million senior living community in Kansas City, Missouri.

The community, Tiffany Springs, is set to welcome residents to its 172 independent living apartment homes at Tiffany Springs to be available beginning in June 2019, followed by 89 memory care and assisted living residential units in July 2019.

Amenities at the community include a day spa and salon, multiple dining venues, heated indoor swimming pool, outdoor courtyard with fire pit, outdoor seating and barbecue kitchen, yoga studio, art studio, theater room with surround sound, multiple lounges, chapel, and a dog park and washing station.

Pathway to Living Finishes Renovations in Michigan

Pathway to Living has wrapped up $2.1 million in renovations at Azpira Place of Breton, an 81-unit assisted living and memory support community in Kentwood, Michigan.

Pathway first acquired and began managing the property, which was formerly known as Elmcroft of Kentwood, in 2018.

Workers refreshed common areas with new paint, carpeting and furniture throughout the community. The work also included a new fireplace in the dining room, renovations to a community room and demonstration kitchen and the addition of a wellness center and therapy and exercise room

Some apartment layouts were also reconfigured, with some units converted to one-bedroom apartments. All residences were updated with new paint, carpet and remodeled kitchenettes. The memory support neighborhood was also redesigned with Pathway’s A Knew Day memory support program in mind. Other renovations included new windows, artwork and furniture, revamping the community’s country kitchen and adding new programming spaces.

Solvere Living has announced the opening of Tessera of Westchase, a 102-unit assisted living and memory care community it manages in Tampa, Florida. The community will host a grand opening event on May 16.

The $27.5 million community has a fitness center, three dining venues, salon and spa, event center, library, concierge, weekly housekeeping and personal laundry services. The community’s apartments are available in studio and one- and two-bedroom floor plans.

Silver Burch Community Completed in Indiana

Silver Birch of Fort Wayne, an affordable senior living community with 119 units, has celebrated its grand opening.

The community is the eighth one opened by Silver Birch Living, a senior housing organization that’s under the Vermillion Development team in Chicago.

The interior design for the project was planned by integrated design and engineering firm HED and executed by Strong Design Consultants.
