Ryan Companies, Grand Living Plan Community in Iowa

Ryan Companies US and Grand Living are collaborating on a new senior living project in West Des Moines, Iowa.

As planned, the 174-unit independent living, assisted living and memory care community will come with three restaurants; a salon and spa with a fitness area, indoor pool, beauty salon, massage and personal trainer services; a theater; library; and a club room. Unit types will range from studios to two-bedroom designs with dens.

Construction is slated to begin in the second quarter of 2019 and finish up as early as the fall of 2020.

South Bay Partners to Develop California Community

South Bay Partners, in a joint venture with Lamb Properties, has purchased property in Irvine, California, on which to develop an eight-story senior living community.

Initial plans call for a 370-unit independent living, assisted living and memory care community with multiple dining venues, underground parking, an indoor therapy pool and spa, a wellness gym, yoga studio, bar and lounge areas, two theaters, an art studio and outdoor courtyards with grills and fire pits.

The community will be managed West Bay Senior Living. Construction is set to begin this summer, with an estimated completion date early in 2021.

Sodalis Breaks Ground on Assisted Living Expansion in Texas

Sodalis Senior Living on Jan. 10 held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new assisted living expansion adjacent to an existing Sodalis memory care community in Buda, Texas.

The community, Sodalis Buda Summit Oaks Assisted Living, will serve as an expansion to the company’s memory care building next door. It will come with amenities such as a salon, a wellness and exercise room, movie theater, wine bar, dining area, patio and a prayer room.

Benchmark Community in New York Now Under Construction

A new Benchmark Senior Living community is coming together in Woodbury, New York.

Plans call for an 89-unit community, Orchard Estate of Woodbury, that can accommodate up to 102 residents. Amenities for the community include a 24/7 bistro, wellness center, family room with full kitchen and dining room, second-floor balcony and walking paths.

Work is expected to wrap up in the late summer or early fall of this year. The opening would mark Benchmark’s second senior living community on Long Island.

HRA Opens HarborChase Community in Florida

Harbor Retirement Associates (HRA) recently celebrated the opening of a HarborChase community in Orlando, Florida.

The community, HarborChase of Dr. Philips, has 186 units and is located within the larger Spring Lake Health and Living Campus, which was developed by Dr. Phillips Charities. Amenities and services include concierge, 24-hour nursing, a rooftop terrace, library, wellness center, beauty salon and a cocktail lounge.

HRA is managing HarborChase of Dr. Phillips, and the property was designed and developed by THW Design. Other project partners include Interior Design Associates and Brasfield & Gorrie.

Plans are coming together for a 234-unit independent living, assisted living and memory care community in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

— A proposed 55-apartment development for older adults would include space for in-home caregivers in Glendale, Wisconsin.

A mixed-use project coming together in Lonsdale, Minnesota, could include a city hall, police station and independent living community.

— A new 24-unit senior living community could be in the works for Linden, Michigan.

Work could begin as early as this summer on a 285-unit senior living community in Boynton Beach, Florida.I

— A senior housing complex underwent a sizable rehabilitation project in Delray Beach, Florida.
