Solera Senior Living, McCaffery Plan Maryland Community
Solera Senior Living and McCaffery Interests are collaborating on a joint venture that will bring a 135-unit senior living community to Kensington, Maryland.
The community, Solera Reserve at Kensington, includes amenities such as multiple dining venues, a wine bar, a club lounge, an underground parking garage, a landscaped courtyard with walking paths, a water feature, a fire pit and space for al fresco dining. The property will also repurpose two historic buildings into a public coffee shop alongside a salon, spa and fitness studio.
The project is expected to break ground in March 2019. Solera currently has six properties under management or development.

Oakmont Expanding Footprint in California
Oakmont Senior Living is working on bringing two new senior living communities to Huntington Beach and Santa Clarita, California.
In Huntington Beach, workers are constructing a 68-unit assisted living and memory care community dubbed Oakmont of Huntington Beach. The community’s floor plans span studio, one and two-bedroom options that range from 400 to 1,064 square feet.
Amenities at the Huntington Beach property include an underground garage, library, movie theater, fitness center, salon and day spa, private dining room, flower and vegetable garden, walking paths and a pet park. If all goes according to plan, the community would open later in the spring of 2019.
In Santa Clarita, Oakmont is building a 90-unit assisted living and memory care community called Oakmont of Valencia. As planned, that community will have multiple dining venues, on and off-site recreational and social activities, a salon and day spa and two movie theaters.
Oakmont of Valencia is currently scheduled to open this summer.
Tutera Completes $55 Million Community Near Kansas City
Tutera Senior Living and Health Care has completed its $55 million Mission Chateau Senior Living community in Prairie Village, Kansas.
The community has 22 villas and 201 apartment homes, and offers independent living, memory care and assisted living options for residents. Amenities for residents include multiple dining options, a heated indoor swimming pool and hot tub, salon and day spa, art studio, theater room indoor greenhouse and indoor-outdoor garden center, and lounges.
Project partners included studioSIX5, Staats Prelogar & Jones Architects, BHC Rhodes and the Luke Draily Construction Company.
Springpoint CCRC Unveils New Fitness Center
A Springpoint Senior Living continuing care retirement community (CCRC) has opened a new fitness area dubbed the “LivWell Center.”
The new fitness center was part of a $3 million project to upgrade and renovate a clubhouse. The project added a new massage room, beauty salon, expanded locker rooms and a group exercise room with Matrix resistance training and NuStep cardiovascular equipment.

— A $300 million senior living community is planned to bring 600 new apartment units to Atlanta.
— A real estate developer has plans to build a 166-unit senior living community in Melbourne, Florida.
— A proposed senior living community could house as many as 320 residents in Pearland, Texas.
— A senior living community in Cromwell, Connecticut, is is preparing to embark on a $48 million expansion project.
— Plans for a new CCRC could bring as many as 500 new beds to Pennington, New Jersey.
— Work has begun on a 40-unit expansion at a senior living community in Alger Heights, Michigan.
— Construction has started for a 118-unit senior living community in Milwaukee.
— Presbyterian Homes & Services recently began construction for a new $38 million senior living community in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
— The first phase of a $28 million expansion project is nearly done at a senior living community in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
— Work has wrapped up for a $52 million expansion at a senior living community in Montgomery, Ohio.
— Jan. 17 is the day when a new 115-unit senior living community officially opens its doors in Excelsior, Minnesota.
