$180 Million Mixed-Use Senior Housing Under Development in Florida

ZOM Senior Living and Liberty Senior Living have closed on a 46 acre lakefront parcel with the intention of building a $180 million senior housing community in Wellington, Florida.

As planned, the independent living, assisted living and memory care project will come with a two-story clubhouse that houses multiple dining venues, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a spa, salon and wellness center, a billiards and cards room and a theater.

Workers are set to break ground on the community’s first construction phase in the first quarter of 2019. That phase will include 267 units, with a grand total of 424 planned for the full build-out.

LS3P Architects and MSA Architects are designing the community, and Balfour Beatty has been selected as the project’s general contractor. Bridge financing for the land acquisition was provided by CB&S Bank.

Presbyterian Homes of Georgia Breaks Ground on Life Plan Community

Work has begun for a new Presbyterian Homes of Georgia life plan community in Athens, Georgia.

When all of the construction phases are complete, the community, dubbed Presbyterian Village Athens (and pictured above), will consist of 107 cottages, 22 villas and 100 apartment homes. Amenities include walking trails, a fitness center, tennis and pickleball courts, an indoor saltwater pool, pub and billiards room, hair salon and multiple dining venues.

Allen Construction was selected as the project’s builder for the project. Work is expected to fully wrap up in 2021.

Spectrum Starts Work on Illinois Community

Spectrum Retirement Communities has broken ground for a new senior living community in South Elgin, Illinois.

The community, called Silver Glen Senior Living, will have 179 residences and a fitness and physical therapy center, a theater, a resource library and three dining areas.

The community is currently slated to open in the middle of 2020. Spectrum developed the community and will own and operate it when it opens. Silver Glen is Spectrum’s eighth community in the Chicago metro area.

Sterling Starts New Construction Phase at Georgia Property

Senior living community owner and operator Sterling Estates has announced the start of construction of the latest phase in the construction of its new Marietta, Georgia retirement community, Sterling Estates of West Cobb.

The forthcoming residence will have 29 one- and two-bedroom apartments and a clubhouse with its own dining venue. The clubhouse also has an indoor and outdoor bar, and areas where residents can practice art, sculpt and work with wood. The expansion also will include a 36-unit memory care center with three engagement centers and a secure courtyard with a therapeutic garden.

The overall community originally opened in 2016, and currently has over 180 residents living there.

Pathway Starts Pre-Leasing for Community Near Milwaukee

Pathway to Living, a Chicago-based developer, owner and operator of senior living communities, is now pre-leasing for Heartis Village North Shore, a 105-unit assisted living and memory care community in Glendale Wisconsin.

When fully open to residents, the community will have multiple restaurants, a library, demonstration kitchen, exercise and therapy gym and two outdoor courtyards with walking paths.

The community is scheduled to open in February 2019.

Springpoint Opens Bistro at New Jersey CCRC

Springpoint Senior Living’s Oaks at Denville community recently opened a new bistro.

The opening is part of a $3 million project to upgrade and renovate its the community’s clubhouse. The bistro is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week. Newly added menu items include personal pizzas cooked in a stone hearth, smoked chicken quesadillas and caprese panini sandwiches.

With the bistro’s opening, the community now has four dining venues.

— Workers have broken ground on a $35 million, 73-unit assisted living community in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

— An 88-unit independent living, assisted living and memory care community has opened in Richfield, Minnesota.

— A church in Silver Spring, Maryland, is celebrating the opening of a new senior living development.

— A senior living community in Carmel, Indiana, has opened a new 15-bed memory care neighborhood.

— Work has wrapped up for an 87-unit assisted living and memory care community in Rochester Hills, Michigan.
