Civitas Senior Living Adds Chief Wellness Officer

Civitas Senior Living has named Misty Miller to the title of chief wellness officer.

In the newly created position, Miller will work to implement strategic initiatives and fine-tune the areas of quality assurance, regulatory compliance and risk management.

Miller brings to the new job 17 years of experience in the field of health and wellness, including some experience as vice president of clinical services for an entity in the senior living and nursing industry.

Watercrest Welcomes Community Relations Director for Florida Property

Watercrest Senior Living Group has hired Robert Harwood as the new community relations director of Watercrest Lake Nona Assisted Living and Memory Care Community, an 80-unit senior living community located in the master-designed community of Lake Nona, Florida.

Harwood has experience as an executive director and assisted living manager, and previously helped oversee the opening of new buildings and driving census growth.

Genacross Appoints Executive Director at Ohio CCRC

Genacross Lutheran Services has named Martin Jan as the new executive director of Genacross Lutheran Services-Wolf Creek Campus, a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) located in Holland, Ohio.

In his new role, Jan will oversee day-to-day operations, community outreach, and business development for the entire campus. His primary focus will lie in three main areas: quality care, regulatory compliance, and fiscal integrity.

Previously, Jan was he was an executive director with a hospital system in Monroe, Michigan.

HHS Hires Vice President of Senior Living

Johnny Carino has joined senior living services firm HHS as its newest vice president of senior living.

Carino, who first began his career in the hospitality industry, has built a restaurant concept, worked for other restaurant groups and even hosted a television show. He joined the organization to help create nutritious food that helps older adults live their best lives.

HHS also recently hired Kevin Svagdis to be the company’s president of senior living. Carino will work together with Svagdis to elevate dining at senior living communities through made-to-order, nutritious food.

Mike Okaty Appointed Chair of ABA Senior Housing and Assisted Living Committee

Mike Okaty, a partner at Foley & Lardner, was recently appointed chair of the American Bar Association’s Senior Housing and Assisted Living Committee.

Okaty, who currently serves as the committee’s vice chair, began his one-year term as chair on Sept. 1. In his new role leading the committee, Okaty will help further its mission of providing housing and related services to seniors.

Okaty also is the founder and former chair of Foley’s Post-Acute Care & Senior Housing Industry Team, which represents operators, payers, investors, lenders, for profit and nonprofits in the senior living industry.

Marcus & Millichap Hires Leader for Newly Launched Montreal Office

Commercial real estate investment services firm Marcus & Millichap (NYSE: MMI) has named Thierry Lessoil regional manager of the firm’s Montreal, Canada office.

Lessoil has 30 years of commercial real estate investment sales and management experience, and most recently worked as a managing director with Sun Life Investment Management, where he was responsible for a $600-million commercial real estate portfolio that included office, industrial, retail and multifamily properties in Canada.
