Planned Spectrum Community to Move Forward in Illinois

The Village of Algonquin Trustees has given a collective thumbs-up to a proposed senior living community from Spectrum Retirement Communities in Algonquin, Illinois.

The planned community, Algonquin Senior Living, will have 162 residences planned available for lease with no down payment. The units range from studios to two-bedroom, two-bath, 1,000-square-foot apartment homes.

Spectrum hopes to break ground on the project in the spring of 2019. The company currently operates five communities in the Chicago area, and has two additional communities under construction in nearby Burr Ridge and Palos Heights.

Mission Senior Living Breaks Ground on Nevada Community

Mission Senior Living recently started work on Mesa Valley Estates Assisted Living and Memory Care, an $8 million, 78-unit senior living community in Mesquite, Nevada.

As planned, the community will have amenities such as a bistro and coffee nook, movie theater and concierge, barber shop and beauty salon, a wellness center and a private office for when physicians visit. Outside, the community will have enclosed outdoor courtyards, pergola, a putting green and raised garden boxes for resident gardeners.

Project partners include Pinnacle Architects and MSL Construction. If all goes according to plan, the community will welcome its first residents in 2019.

Work Starts for Iowa Community’s Expansion

A $3 million expansion project is officially underway at Arlington Place, an assisted living and memory care community in Red Oak, Iowa.

The 10,000 square foot addition to the existing 38-apartment community will bring with it 14 new apartments and common areas that include a bistro.

HDC Development Companies is leading the construction project, with architectural design from Solum Lang. The community is expected to open its doors to residents in 2019.

Dominion Senior Living to Host Grand Opening for Kentucky Community

Dominion Senior Living is set to host a grand opening on Sept. 27 for Dominion Senior Living of Frankfort, a senior living community in Frankfort, Kentucky.

As planned, the community will have 84 residents and programs specially designed for older adults dealing with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia. Dominion Senior Living of Frankfort will also use an electronic health records (EHR) system, and a specially designed nurse call system.

Erickson Living CCRC Opens New Residence Building

Residents are now moving into Twin Oaks Square (pictured above), a new independent living building at Erickson Living’s Highland Springs continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in Dallas.

Twin Oaks Square has 109 residences with nine new floor plans and a new pub. The community hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony and reception to celebrate the opening on Aug. 29.

Twin Oaks Square is the second new building Erickson Living opened at Highland Springs this year.

Florida Community Set for Grand Opening

Autumn Senior Living is scheduled to on Sept. 25 hold a grand opening of Aravilla Assisted Living, the second development phase of its Aravilla Sarasota campus.

The $25.5 million community has 120 assisted living residences and amenities such as two restaurants, a breakfast bistro, a sports pub, a cafe, a piano bar and an outdoor barbecue pit.

— Local officials have given the preliminary go-ahead for a 114-unit assisted living community in Columbus, Indiana.

— An active adult community is in the works in Meridian, Idaho.

— Plans for a new 38-unit senior living community have advanced in Edwardsville, Illinois.

— A former health care building in Trumbull, Connecticut, is slated to become a senior living community.

— A senior housing community in Clarence, New York, is considering an expansion and relocation project to make way for new memory care units.

— Plans for a 74-unit active adult community are making headway in Palm Coast, Florida.

— A proposal has been submitted to turn a 7.4-acre university site in West Falls Church, Virginia, into a development with a senior living community.

— A planned senior living community in Niskayuna, New York, is close to earning final approval from local officials.

— Work has begun for a new CCRC in Naples, FL.

— Tradition Senior Living has started construction on a 23-story senior living community in Houston.

— Belmont Village Senior Living’s senior living community in Aliso Viejo, California, is on track to open in 2019.

— Spectrum Retirement Communities is set to open soon a new senior living community in Gilbert, Arizona.

— A 59-unit senior living community has opened its doors in Lansing, New York.

— A former rehab center in Lovingston, Virginia, has been reborn as an assisted living community.
