Officials OK Modernization of New York Affordable Senior Housing Community

The Rochester City Council has voted to allow non-profit Rochester Management to move forward with its plan to modernize the Cobbs Hill Village affordable senior housing community in Rochester, New York.

Plans call for the community’s existing buildings to be replaced by new buildings that include apartments equipped with kitchen appliances and energy-efficient HVAC systems. The plan would also add to the community an accessible refuse collection area and laundry rooms, a fitness room, a computer lab and an indoor community space.

All of the community’s 60 current residents will continue to pay the same rents they pay today.

Waters Senior Living to Open Sales Center for Forthcoming Community in Wisconsin

Waters Senior Living is set to open a sales office on Aug. 21 for The Waters of Oak Creek, a 136-apartment senior living community under construction in Oak Creek, Wisconsin.

Amenities include multiple dining options such as restaurant and a cafe/pub, a theater and exercise space.

The senior living community is scheduled to open in early 2019.

Workers Break Ground on Affordable Senior Housing Community in Miami

Construction has begun on “Caribbean Village,” a 123-unit affordable senior housing community in Miami.

As planned, the Miami-Dade County-owned property will contain one and two bedroom residences, and amenities that include a fitness center, lounge with card tables and computer access.

The Waters of Oak Creek will be the 11th community owned and operated by The Waters Senior Living. Construction is expected to wrap up in the fall of 2019.

Discovery Holds Grand Unveiling for Renovated Florida Community

Discovery Senior Living on Aug. 18 held a grand unveiling to showcase the recently renovated Conservatory At Champion Forest community in Spring, Texas.

Renovations were completed on a building (pictured above) that contains apartment homes, amenities and access to a wide range of services.

Discovery operates 52 communities across the U.S.

Silverado Accepting Residents at Illinois Community

Silverado is now accepting residents at its newest community in St. Charles, Illinois.

The memory care community has the capacity to serve 90 residents, and comes with amenities and services designed for residents with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia. The community also has around-the-clock licensed nurses and a designated physician medical director.

This is Silverado’s fifth community in the Chicago metro area.

New Hope Wraps Up Second Construction Phase in Michigan

New Hope Senior Communities recently completed the second-phase expansion of its 143-apartment senior living campus in Hampton Township, Michigan.

The community was built in two phases, with workers breaking ground on the first phase in 2015. Amenities include a beauty salon, life-enrichment area and a movie theater.

— Kensington Senior Living has plans to open a 92-unit assisted living community in Verona, N.J.

— Local leaders in Limerick, Pennsylvania, have given their blessing to plans for a development that would bring with it 308 units of independent living, assisted living and memory care.

— A 104-unit senior living community is in the works for San Diego.

— A site that once housed a Sears could give rise to a development with roughly 150 apartments for seniors in Irondequoit, New York.

— Brightview Senior Living is seeking to to open a 200-unit senior living community as part of a planned multifamily project in Herndon, Virginia.

— A planned senior living community would bring hundreds of new age-restricted, independent living, assisted living and memory care units to Conway, New Hampshire.

— Plans for an 81-unit senior living community are moving forward in Oregon, Ohio.

— A new $33 million senior living community has opened its doors in in Moline, Illinois.
