Brookdale Senior Living (NYSE: BKD) has named a former telecommunications executive as its new CFO.
Specifically, Steven Swain is set to join the nation’s largest senior housing provider as its executive vice president and CFO on September 4. He will replace Teresa Sparks, who began serving as Brookdale’s interim CFO when Lucinda Baier left the position to assume the role of CEO earlier this year.
Swain most recently served as the CFO of telecommunications giant DISH Network Corporation, a post he’s held since October 2014. Prior to joining DISH Network in 2011, Swain spent over 15 years working in the telecommunications industry.
“I am excited to welcome Steve to the Brookdale family. Steve is incredibly focused on consumers, having helped acquire and retain a profitable subscriber base of over 10 million customers,” Baier said in a press release. “Steve has been an important leader who has achieved strategic and operational goals in multi-billion dollar organizations. His experience in finance within complex, asset-intensive businesses will be a great addition to our leadership team.”
Brookdale currently operates about 988 communities in 46 states.
