Balfour Senior Living Hires First COO

Balfour Senior Living has hired Phill Barklow as the company’s first-ever COO.

Barklow, a senior living industry veteran with 20 years of experience, previously served in leadership positions at senior living communities across Southern California. His hiring comes as Balfour prepares to enter markets outside of Colorado, as well as further expand its presence in the state.

Balfour also hired Sara Thom to the role of vice president of human resources. Thom has 15 years of experience directing human resources and talent management in various industries, and will work closely with the company’s leaders to find and keep top industry talent.

Elder Care Alliance Appoints Vice President of Sales and Marketing

Nonprofit senior living provider Elder Care Alliance has appointed Dan Hadfield as its newest vice president of sales and marketing.

Hadfield will now oversee Elder Care Alliance’s five senior living communities in San Mateo, San Francisco, Camarillo, Oakland and San Rafael, California. He comes to his new role with more than 20 years of experience in operations, management and sales and marketing.

Prior to Elder Care Alliance, Hadfield served as a regional director of sales and marketing for Integral Senior Living.

Presby’s Inspired Life Appoints Administrator for Pennsylvania Community

Sara Thompson is the new administrator of a Presby’s Inspired Life community in Broomal, Pennsylvania.

Thompson holds nursing home administrator certification and previously served in administrative roles with ManorCare Health Services, Audubon Villa Health and Rehabilitation Center, and Evergreen Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Buckner Community Names Wellness Director

Parkway Place, a Buckner Retirement Services community in Houston, has hired Constance Lafuente as its wellness director.

In her new role, Lafuente will oversee programming in the community’s wellness center. She plans to use the opportunity to develop new classes at the community, including more strength classes. She will also develop an incentive program aimed at highlighting healthy residents.

Lafuente previously served as an exercise specialist and director of group fitness for a personal training company, as well as an adjunct professor of kinesiology at Lonestar Community College.

Wingate Hires Marketing Director for Massachusetts Community

Wingate Residences at Melbourne Place, a Wingate Healthcare assisted living community in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, has named Melissa Scarafoni-Metcalf to the role of marketing director.

Scarafoni-Metcalf has over 16 years of sales and marketing experience. Previously, she served as a marketing director for a senior living community in Lenox, Massachusetts.

Creating Results Welcomes Vice President

Strategic marketing consultancy Creating Results has hired Emilie Williamson as vice president of selling strategies.

Williamson will collaborate with client services to help the members of the agency’s client base achieve their sales goals. In total, she brings to the new role almost two decades of senior living-focused strategic sales programming, regional sales management and business development.

Previously, Williamson worked for MatrixCare, where she led regional sales strategies, and Senior Housing Net, where she managed $1 million in annual sales revenues.

Lancaster Pollard Opens Bay Area Office

Investment banking and advisory services firm Lancaster Pollard has placed Grant Goodman, a vice president, in charge of its newest office in Walnut Creek, California.

Over the course of his career, Goodman has underwritten and advised on transactions worth more than $2 billion in total. Prior to joining Lancaster Pollard, he led the California region at GE Capital’s Healthcare Financial Services

The San Francisco-area office will be Lancaster Pollard’s tenth banking office in the country.
