Kendal Breaks Ground on Expansions for Virginia CCRC

The Kendal Company recently celebrated the groundbreaking of a $40 million expansion project at Kendal at Lexington, a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in Lexington, Virginia*.

Plans called for renovations to the CCRC’s skilled nursing center as well as upgrades to the community’s assisted living wing and its Anderson Dining Room. The expansion will also add 30 new independent living cottages, increasing the number of residential living units by about 25%, Kendal announced.

Construction Nearly Underway for New California Community

The Wolff Company is poised to break ground soon on Revel South Bay, a new 55+ active adult community in Torrance, California.

As planned, the four-story property will have 185 studio, one-, and two-bedroom independent living residences, according to a press release.

Amenities include a fitness and yoga studio, a full-service salon and spa, an art studio, a heated saltwater pool and multiple restaurants with seasonal dining menus.

Revel South Bay is expected to open in 2019.

EPOCH Opens Boston Community

EPOCH Senior Living has opened Waterstone at the Circle, a 92-unit senior living community in Boston.

Residents of the newly opened development have access to such perks as a fitness and aquatic center, restaurant-style dining room, theater, art studio, library, lobby bar with personal wine lockers, card room and underground parking.

Waterstone at the Circle was developed by National Development of Newton Lower Falls and is managed and operated by EPOCH Senior Living of Waltham.

The new community is part of The Circle, a larger development that includes an AC Marriott hotel, retail and dining.

Spectrum Unveils Assisted Living, Memory Care Property in Ohio

Spectrum Retirement Communities has announced the opening of its newest community, Powell Assisted Living and Memory Care in Powell, Ohio.

The 78,000-square-foot community has 89 pet-friendly apartment dwellings, according to a press release. Perks for residents include HeartLegacy, an iPad kiosk that connects residents to their loved ones through video. The community also has Spark Memories Radio, a streaming music app designed to stir memories and brain activity in residents living with dementia or Alzheimer’s.

Welcome Center and Design Studio Added to Age-Restricted Community in Delaware

Noble’s Pond, 55+ active lifestyle community in Dover, Delaware, has a new welcome center and design studio.

The welcome center provides an overview of the community and the surrounding city of Dover, while the design studio help prospective homeowners explore and select custom finishes and options for their residences.

The new center and studio are located in freestanding buildings and are connected to the community by a breezeway.

— A 215-unit independent living, assisted living and memory care is in the works as part of a planned mixed-use development in Rochester, Minnesota.

— A Detroit nonprofit plans spend nearly $11 million to renovate a former school and turn it into affordable senior housing.

— Local officials in Novi, Michigan, have given the initial go-ahead for plans to build a 186-unit senior living community.

— A new master-planned community in La Porte, Texas, could also include a senior housing component.

— Plans are moving ahead for Aspen Valley Senior Living, a forthcoming 66-unit unit senior living campus in Barber Valley, Idaho.

— An 81-unit senior housing community in Oregon, Ohio, has gotten the green light from local officials.

— Developers have proposed a new assisted living community that would hold roughly 50 seniors in Lake in the Hills, Illinois.

— A senior living community in Mason City, Iowa, is planning to add 20 new assisted living units as part of a $3.9 million project.

— Officials in Evans, Georgia, recently gave their blessing to rezone a plot of land to build a 90-unit assisted living and memory care community.

— Plans for an 86-unit senior living community are moving ahead in Kyle, Texas.

— A new, 27,000-square-foot memory care community is in the works for Center Grove, Indiana.

— Work could begin this fall on Westview Commons, a 73-unit independent living community in Killingly, Connecticut.

— Oakmont Senior Living is planning to open a 49-unit community in Fountaingrove, California, that would open in 2019.

— A planned senior living community could bring 120 senior living apartments to Shoreview, Minnesota.

— Early construction work is underway for a new 40-bed senior living community in Fishersville, Virginia.

— Construction crews are hard at work building The Chelsea at Shrewsbury, a community with 85 units and up to 110 beds in Shrewsbury, New Jersey.

— Work is underway for Watercrest Naples Assisted Living and Memory Care, a 128-unit senior living project in Naples, Florida.

— A senior living community under construction is set to bring 87 independent living and memory care units to the city of Caldwell, Idaho.

— A $33 million senior living community is on track to open this summer in Moline, Illinois.

— A senior living community in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, has put the finishing touches on a $1 million renovation project.

—A 92-bed assisted living and memory care community has opened its doors in Albany, Oregon.
