LCS Appoints Bird to Leadership Role

Des Moines, Iowa-based LCS, a developer and operator of senior living communities, has appointed Chris Bird to lead the company’s rental division. He will join the company in February.

In his new role, he will oversee all aspects of the rental company including operations, occupancy, development and new business growth.

He brings 22 years of senior housing experience in the rental and continuing care retirement community (CCRC) spaces, along with experience in marketing and sales.

Most recently, he served on the Brookdale Senior Living leadership team as division president. Prior to joining Brookdale, he spent seven years working at Marriott Senior Living Services, which was later acquired by Sunrise Senior Living.

Evergreen Real Estate Welcomes New Executive Team Members

Evergreen Real Estate Group, a Chicago-based development, construction and management firm of affordable and market-rate multifamily properties—including communities for seniors and families—has welcomed John Kennedy as its new executive vice president of operations.

Further, the firm has promoted Mary Mauney from regional supervisor to vice president of property management.

In his newly created position, Kennedy will oversee Evergreen’s national property management portfolio, which comprises more than 8,000 units.

Prior to joining the company, Kennedy was senior vice president at Related Management, with responsibility for the firm’s 7,000-unit Midwest affordable housing portfolio.

As Evergreen’s newly appointed vice president of property management, Mauney will work alongside Kennedy in managing the day-to-day operations of the firm’s 8,000-unit portfolio. In addition, she will continue to leverage her extensive experience working with state and federal agencies to secure tax credits needed to fund new developments. She also will ensure individual communities meet various reporting requirements in order to maintain their affordable status.

Mauney joined Evergreen in 2013, most recently serving as regional supervisor. In this role, she managed Evergreen’s third-party management contracts while maintaining a portfolio of eight to 10 properties.

Muth Steps Up to Director Post at M&T Realty 

Baltimore, Maryland-based M&T Realty Capital Corporation, a full-service mortgage banking company that specializes in providing competitive financing nationwide for commercial real estate, including seniors housing, has appointed Steven Muth as managing director in Albany, New York.

In his new position, Muth will be originating Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and FHA/HUD loans for multi-family and health care properties nationwide. He joins M&T Realty Capital Corporation from M&T Bank’s Healthcare Banking Group, where he served as a senior relationship manager for the past seven years. Prior to this appointment, he worked as a federal tax associate at accounting firm KPMG LLP.

Muth holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the State University of New York at Oswego, and is a CPA of the State of New York. He serves as the treasurer of the board of directors for Colonie Senior Service Centers, Inc.

Atria Senior Living Welcomes New Executive Chef, Engage Life Director

Atria Senior Living, a Louisville, Kentucky-based operator of senior living communities, has welcomed Brian Wykoff as executive chef, and Kristin Brown as Engage Life director, for its Atria at Villages of Windsor community in Lake Worth, Florida.

Wykoff joins Atria Senior Living with more than 15 years of experience in country club settings. Most recently, he served as executive chef for the Country Club of Florida in Village of Golf.

As Engage Life director, Kristin Brown will direct Atria Senior Living’s brand of Engage Life events, classes and activities programs, which are developed based on residents’ interests and preferences. As an Atria Senior Living team member, Kristin Brown previously served as Engage Life director for Atria on Roslyn Harbor and Atria Forest Hills, both in New York.

Wohlsen Construction Announces Director of Business Development

Wesport, Connecticut-based Wohlsen Construction Company has welcomed Maura Z. Richards as its new director of business development, senior living. In this capacity, Maura will establish and maintain relationships in the senior living market sector.

Prior to joining Wohlsen, she spent 15 years in the senior living industry as a provider and consultant. During her career, she worked with numerous retirement communities in a leadership role to improve their sales and marketing initiatives. Richards brings this experience to Wohlsen’s senior living clients, providing insight and understanding to both clients and construction personnel.

McClure Named CEO of GlynnDevins

GlynnDevins, a Kansas City, Missouri-based advertising and marketing agency specializing in senior living, has announced that current president and chief operating officer, Sue McClure, has been promoted to CEO.

Co-founders Jim Glynn and George Devins, who previously held the role, will continue active roles and responsibilities as members of the GlynnDevins board of directors, where they will offer strategic consultation to McClure and the agency’s leadership team.

Prior to joining GlynnDevins, McClure served in marketing leadership roles at UMB Financial and Sprint, as well as two marketing agencies in the Kansas City area.

Honn Steps Up to Managing Director Role for Regions Healthcare Group

Birmingham, Alabama-based financial firm Regions Bank has welcomed Christopher Honn to its health care group as managing director for senior housing, with an emphasis on clients operating assisted living and memory care facilities. He will be based in the company’s Chicago office.

Hong brings more than 30 years of experience in the financial services industry to firm. He most recently was senior managing director for Berkadia Commercial Mortgage in Chicago.

Murphy Named Director of Sales and Marketing at EPOCH Senior Living Community

Waltham, Massachusetts-based EPOCH Senior Living has named Aileen Murphy director of sales and marketing of Waterstone at the Circle, an independent senior living community in Boston. Murphy brings more than 13 years of marketing and sales experience to her new role.

Prior to Waterstone at the Circle, she served as the manager of programs and volunteers for a non-profit social and volunteer organization for seniors in Newton, Massachusetts. Her previous experience also include sales and marketing manager for IBM and business development manager for internet company Gomez, Inc.

Frampton Construction Promotes Lee, Yavelak, Austin

Frampton Construction Company, LLC, a Charleston, South Carolina-based regional full-service construction firm providing planning and design support, preconstruction, construction services, and sustainability services to a variety of industries, including seniors housing, has promoted Justin Lee, Donnie Yavelak, and Selby Austin to new positions.

Lee, who joined Frampton Construction in May 2016, has been named superintendent in the company’s Charleston office. His expanded role involves overseeing and coordinating subcontractor work on the job site to ensure quality and a timely completion.

Yavelak, who joined Frampton Construction in September 2016, is now project manager in the Charleston office. In his new role, he will manage projects from preconstruction through completion, focusing on budget, scheduling, safety and quality.

Austin, who first interned with Frampton before joining the team full-time in June 2017, will hold the title of assistant project manager in the Charleston office. Additional responsibilities include managing projects with subcontractors, assisting with estimating project scope and costs, and providing onsite management of construction projects.

Blue Moon Capital Partners Promotes Hanson

Blue Moon Capital Partners LP, a Boston-based senior housing private equity investor, has promoted Elyse Hanson as director of investments.

She leads the underwriting and due diligence effort at Blue Moon for acquisitions and ground-up development. She is a member of the National Investment Center for Senior Housing and Care’s (NIC) Future Leaders Council and an active member of CREW Boston, where she currently serves as a co-chair of the Rising Leaders Networking Group.
