Movers & Shakers: Sodexo CEO to Retire, Welltower Hires New SVP

Sodexo Chairman and CEO to Retire in January 2018

Michel Landel has announced his plan to retire and step down as the chairman and CEO of Sodexo on Jan. 23, 2018.

Denis Machuel, currently Sodexo’s CEO of Benefits & Rewards Services and Personal & Home Services, and Group Chief Digital Officer, will succeed Landel as CEO and Chairman of the Executive Committee in January 2018.

To guarantee a smooth transition, Machuel will assume the role of Deputy CEO of Sodexo on Sept. 1, 2017. He will work alongside Michel Landel, who will retain complete executive responsibility for Sodexo’s strategy and management during the period leading up to Jan. 23, 2018. 

Landel will stay on the Board of Directors for the rest of his term, which is until January 2020.

Welltower Names Mary Ellen Pisanelli as New SVP

Toledo, Ohio-based health care real estate investment trust (REIT) Welltower Inc. (NYSE: HCN) recently hired Mary Ellen Pisanelli as its Senior Vice President, Legal & Administration. She will join the company within the coming weeks, according to a press release.  

Pisanelli previously served as a partner at Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP. In her new role at Welltower, she will provide legal support across the company’s portfolio of U.S.-based real estate assets and will oversee several corporate administrative functions. With respect to administrative matters, she will report to Welltower CEO Tom DeRosa, and she will report to Matthew McQueen, Senior Vice President – General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, with respect to legal matters.

Sage Senior Living Names New VP of Human Resources

Springfield, Pennsylvania-based Sage Senior Living recently named Meg Jones as its vice president of human resources. 

Jones previously served as a partner with ZeroToSixty LLC, where she worked with health care entrepreneurs and innovators to facilitate breakthrough improvements in health care and health status. 

“We are thrilled to welcome Meg to Sage. It was critical to find someone who can communicate our WE CARE principals—centered on excellence, teamwork and respect—to potential employees and to assure that we’re living those values every day as a team,” Sage Senior Living President Kelly Cook Andress said in a press release. “In her role, Meg will work to attract people who embody those principles and who then find fulfillment in their positions at Sage.”

Methodist Homes of Alabama & Northwest Florida Names New VP 

Methodist Homes of Alabama & Northwest Florida recently named Liz Prosch, RN, as its vice president for quality and mission integration.

In her new role, Prosch will be responsible for monitoring, structuring and maintaining the highest quality in nursing services at Fair Haven, a Methodist Homes of Alabama & Northwest Florida senior housing community in Birmingham, Alabama.

Prosch previously served with Methodist Homes in a similar position before taking a role with the Alabama Quality Assurance Foundation (AQAF). 

Devonshire at PGA National Hires New Director of Dining

Jim Tallman was recently named the director of dining at Devonshire at PGA National, a senior housing community operated by Erickson Living in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

Tallman previously worked at Marriott Hotels’ signature properties as director of restaurants, including the San Antonio Marriott Riverwalk and the San Diego Marriott Marquis.

“Jim enjoys sharing his passion for food, wine and special events with Devonshire’s ambitious and eager culinary staff and the over 350 residents who live here,” Devonshire at PGA National Executive Director Jim Wingardner said in a press release.

“In the dining industry this time of year in Florida marks the beginning of the quiet season,” Tallman added. “Line cooks all over our area find their full-time hours cut in half or even laid off. That is not the case here at Devonshire where we always need a full staff for our five restaurants all year round. I am very excited to be a part of this team and look forward to sharing my passion for food, wine and service with others.”

Windsor Run Names George Comfort as Executive Director

Windsor Run, an Erickson Living senior housing community currently under construction in Matthews, North Carolina, recently hired George Comfort as its first executive director, effective August 7.

Windsor Run is expected to open in the spring of 2018.

Comfort has worked as the associate executive director of Ann’s Choice, a sister community located in the suburbs of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, since 2014.
