Senior Community Planning Addition, Iowa

Located in Marshalltown, Iowa, Glenwood Place is planning for a $3.5 million addition to its independent living and assisted living apartments.

The addition will add eight independent living apartments and 12 assisted living apartments to the community. Glenwood Place already has two bedroom independent living townhomes, assisted living apartments as well as memory care studios.

The project is expected to be completed by summer 2017 and is being constructed by Merit Construction Company. The architect for the project is OPN Architects.

Land Acquired for New Luxury Senior Living Community

Fourteen acres of land in Conway, Ark., have been acquired by Abby Development who develops, owns and operates luxury senior living communities. The community planned for this land will include 20 independent living cottages, 48 assisted living units and 26 memory care units.

Amenities will include a fishing lake with walking trails, movie theater, pharmacy, general store, beauty salon, landscaped courtyards, transportation, library and rehabilitation center. The groundbreaking for the community is scheduled for the first quarter of 2017.

Abby Development, based in Dallas, Texas, has five senior housing communities in pre-development throughout Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas.

Assisted Living and Memory Care Community to Undergo Expansion

In Robins, Iowa, Emery Place has announced its plan to expand even further. After opening just over a year ago, the community will undergo a $1.75 million expansion that will add 12 assisted living apartments.

The project will be constructed by Rinderknecht Associates Inc. and OPN Architects will be handling the design.

The expansion is expected to be completed in spring 2017 and will be financed by F&M Bank in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

New Spectrum Retirement Community Approved

A new project by Spectrum Retirement Communities gets the go ahead in Whitestown, Ind.

Anson Senior Living will feature 174 residences that include independent living, assisted living and memory care.

Apartments range from studios to two-bedroom, two-bath 1,000 square-foot apartment homes. Amenities will include a theater, salon, daily chef-prepared meals available at any time, on-site concierge services and dozens of social and wellness activities.

Anson Senior Living will join Spectrum’s two other communities in the Indianapolis area as well as two others that are under development.

Senior Lifestyle To Build Community in Kansas

Located in Overland Park, Kan., The Sheridan at Overland Park is now accepting leases for assisted living and memory care units. Developed by CA Senior Living, in partnership with Wanxiang America, the community will be managed by Senior Lifestyle.

The 116 units will be a mix of studios, one bedrooms and two bedrooms. Amenities will include a bistro dining and gathering place, chef-prepared meals, wellness monitoring and access to 24-hour licensed care staff.

The Sheridan at Overland Park is slated for competition in early 2017 and will be part of a mixed-use development that includes plans for additional residences, shops, restaurants and office space.

Construction Underway on $70M Senior Community Expansion

At Twin Lakes Senior Living Community in Montgomery, Ohio, the first phase of a $70 million expansion project has broken ground.

This phase will include 45 independent living apartments, a casual dining venue, an underground parking garage, a community center/auditorium, renovation of the nursing and therapy areas and a retail development along the road of the community.

The first phase is planned to be complete by early 2018. The second phase will begin in 2017 and will add a new building to the community with around 40 units that will accommodate memory care residents. The second phase will also include 18 independent living villas on the North Campus.

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Planned for Community in Chicago Suburbs

Assisted living and memory care community, HarborChase of Naperville, located in Naperville, Ill., is complete and will hold its grand opening next week.

The community, managed by Harbor Retirement Associates, features 24-hour staff, supportive services, daily transportation, housekeeping services, concierge services and Chef’s Fare dining program in multiple venues.

$40 Million Senior Community Complete in Illinois

Located in Algonquin, Ill., Clearendale of Algonquin is complete. The $40 million community has 186 residences, 76 of which are for independent living, 56 for assisted living and 54 memory care suites.

The residences vary in size from 720 square feet to 1,285 square feet. Other amenities include a bistro, pub, billiards rooms, club room, library, living rooms with fireplaces, garage parking, a multipurpose room, wellness center with full-service salon, fitness room, private patio and courtyard, movie theater and a crafts room.

Life Care Services of Des Moines, Iowa will manage Clarendale of Algonquin. The community is the second of the Clarendale-branded senior communities to open in the Chicago area.
