Permits Finalized on $97.4M Senior Community in Canada

Located in Vancouver, British Columbia, Element Lifestyle Retirement Inc. has announced its final approval for a $97.4 million project, OPAL by element. The community will be Element’s flagship senior resident and will be under construction soon.

OPAL will be include independent living, assisted living, memory care and licensed complex care for senior. There will be 44 condos and 56 rentals in the community.

Residents at OPAL will enjoy an engaging culinary program with the option for cooking classes. The kitchen will include a communal table for larger groups of friends and private dining and living rooms.

Other amenities include a courtyard and rooftop patios with views of downtown, the mountains and Queen Elizabeth Park.

StoryPoint Senior Living Community Planned for Ohio

StoryPoint Senior Living, located in Fairfield Township, Ohio, will begin construction as early as October. The community will be 221,000 square feet on nearly 17 acres of land.

The three-story building will have 204 apartment homes ranging from studios to 2-bedroom layouts. All apartments will offer the full continuum of care: independent living, assisted living and memory care.

StoryPoint Senior Living is set to be completed by April 2018.

Expansion Planned at Commonwealth Assisted Living

Located in Farnham, Va., Commonwealth Assisted Living has announced plans for an expansion of its memory care neighborhood, Sweet Memories. The new wing will include six memory care suites, expanded activities areas and a dedicated dining room for residents residing at Sweet Memories.

The new memory care suites will feature private bathrooms, closets and individualized care plans. Residents in Sweet Memories will also enjoy farm-to-table dining options, personal care services, weekly housekeeping, medication management and more.

The expansion will be completed by the first quarter of 2017.

New Heartis Community Being Developed in Texas

Caddis is developing Heartis MidCities in Bedford, Texas. The 178,530 square-foot amenity-rich community is expected to be completed in winter 2017.

The community will feature 178 units for independent living, assisted living and memory care.

Amenities include large, secured courtyards, outdoor walking paths, game and activity rooms, beauty and barber shop, large dining rooms offering chef-prepared meals, 24-hour emergency call system, housekeeping and laundry services.

Frontier Management will manage the community. The architect for the project is Katus LLC and the general contractor is EBCO.

This will be Caddis’ fifth senior living community near the metroplex and will be the company’s 12th community in Texas.

Caddis, Pathway Senior Living Break Ground on New Project Near Chicago

Heartis Village Orland Park, located 26 miles southwest of Chicago in Orland Park, the community is underway. The project is a combined effort by Dallas-based Caddis and Chicago-based Pathway Senior Living. Caddis is the owner and Pathway will manage the community.

The community will be 94 units of assisted living and memory care. Residents will be able to enjoy chef-prepared meals in in a large dining room or private dining room, two interior courtyards, salon, spa with therapeutic tub, arts and crafts room, media room, 24-hour emergency call system and housekeeping.

Heartis Village Orland Park is expected to be completed in fall 2017.

CCRC Holds Ground Breaking Ceremony for Health Care Center

Located in Maplewood, N.J., Winchester Gardens broke ground on a new health care center.

A Springpoint Senior Living CCRC, includes the renovation of two existing buildings that combined are 43,000 square feet and the expansion will be 25,000 square feet.

Once complete, the facility will include three assisted living neighborhoods with both memory care and long-term care support and a fourth neighborhood for sub-acute care. The sub-acute neighborhood will be able to accommodate 30 people.

The project was designed by KDA Architects and the construction manager is C&C Construction Management, Inc.

The new health care center will be complete by fall 2018.

Senior Living Community in Minnesota Breaks Ground

Located in Shorewood, Minn., Shorewood Landing Senior Living has broken ground. The community is owned by Oppidan and managed by Ebenezer Management Services.

Shorewood Landing will offer 105 apartments in total. Of the 105 residences, 80 will be for independent and assisted living and 25 will be for memory care.

Residents will enjoy restaurant-quality dining with chef-prepared meals, private dining, overnight guest suite, community rooms, club lounge and bar, outdoor decks and patios, a rooftop patio, movie theater, fitness center and hair salon.

The community was designed by Pope Architects and is being constructed by Anderson Companies.

Kisco Senior Living Community Starts Renovations and Expansions

Kisco Senior Living’s BridgePoint at Los Altos in Los Altos, Calif., began a $4 million renovation just a few weeks ago.

The project includes a new covered entry, large gathering space, bistro cafe, courtyard and updates to the community’s lobby, living room and library.

Other improvements will refresh all of the interior corridors and the exterior of the building.

A timetable for construction completion was not provided by Kisco.

Construction Complete on $50M Independent Living Expansion

Located in Frederick, Md., The Lodge at Willow Ponds has finished a $50 million expansion project that added a four-story 277,000-square-foot building.

The new building features 150 new apartments and patio homes. There is also a possibility that an additional 50 units may be added in the future.

Wagman Construction finished the expansion of the community, which is owned by Homewood Retirement Centers of the United Church of Christ. The project was led by architect Noelker and Hull.

Watercrest Senior Living Celebrates Grand Opening

Watercrest of San Jose Assisted Living and Memory Care, located in Jacksonville, Fla., had its grand opening this week to welcome more than 30 residents.

The community is 79,000 square feet and includes 90 units—66 of which are dedicated to assisted living and 24 units for memory care.

In terms of amenities, residents will enjoy a spa, wine bar, organic meals in multiple dining venues, outdoor living space and personalized care.
