National Healthcare Development Plans Skilled Nursing Facility

Located in Avondale, Arizona, a new transitional rehabilitation and skilled nursing facility will be built as part of a larger health care campus by National Healthcare Development. The facility will consist of 50 private pay beds and will be the first phase of the project.

This phase of project will be 37,000 square feet and consists of a large physical therapy gym, as well as an open air courtyard for patients to spend time outside.

The project is expected to start construction in October and will cost approximately $14 million to complete.

The Cedars to Expand Life Plan Community in Kansas

The Cedars Life Plan Community, located in McPherson, Kan., announced plans to expand its comprehensive residential and care offering.

The plan is to construct one-and two-bedroom condominium style residences, a memory care neighborhood, a new cafe and a new chapel.

These additions will join the duplex-style homes, assisted living, memory care, short-term rehabilitation and long-term care services. The expansion will add needed spaces for new residents in the fully occupied community.

Fellowship Square to Break Ground on New Community 

A new community in Surprise, Ariz., is set to start construction in the fourth quarter of 2016.

The Fellowship Square community will consist of 313 units on 14.6 acres of land. There will be 255 independent living units, 42 assisted living units and 16 memory care units.

By late 2017, some of the independent living apartments will be available. Dining and transportation services will also be available at that time.

Fellowship Square in Surprise will have health care services that are seen on a typical Christian Care campus, which includes services from Fellowship Square’s home health agency.

The community is set to be complete in 2018.

Sunrise Community Planned on Former Good Counsel Campus 

On the land of the former Good Counsel Campus in White Plains, N.Y., Sunrise Senior Living is planning to build a new community in the center of a campus that will also feature a mix of family and dorm-style housing for the adjoining Pace University law school.

The senior community will consist of 80 beds dedicated to assisted living and 45 beds dedicated to residents with Alzheimer’s and other dementias.

Future residents will be able to enjoy the large amount of outdoor space designed into the campus. There are about 2.7 acres of green space that will be preserved, which is about 56% of the property.

WP Development NB, LLC, led by Manhattan-based George Comfort & Sons, is developing the project and Perkins Eastman is the designated architect. The project is still in the early planning stages and is being reviewed by city officials.

Senior Lifestyle Corp. to Open $24 Million Community Early 2017

Located in Sunset Hills, Mo., The Sheridan at Laumeier is underway. The community will include 84 units consisting of 43 assisted living apartments and 41 memory care residences.

Residents at The Sheridan at Laumeier will be able to enjoy 38,000 square feet of common area, which includes living rooms, dining room, entertainment room, fitness center and art studio.

Residents will also be able to use smartly integrated technology in the community to stay in touch with family and loved ones.

Owned and operated by Senior Lifestyle Corporation, the community plans to open in early 2017.

Ground Broken on $16 Million Community in Minnesota

In the St. Paul, Minn., suburb of Lake Elmo, Arbor Glen Senior Living has began construction on a two-story $16 million community.

The campus will feature independent living, assisted living and memory care services. There will be 60 units for independent living and assisted living and 24 memory care units.

The 106,654-square-foot community will be operated by Ebenezer Management Services. Wisconsin-based Ayres Associates designed the community.

Fair Haven Retirement Community Begins to Unveil $42 Million Expansion

Located in Birmingham, Ala., Fair Haven Retirement Community will be unveiling the results of its $42.4 million expansion in the next month.

The new expansion includes a stand-alone rehabilitation center, new assisted living residences, additional independent living residences and a new skilled nursing center.

The community provides independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, memory care and short-term rehabilitation.

Trilogy Health Services Community Opens in Indiana

Orchard Pointe Health Campus, located in Kendallville, Ind., has opened and is Trilogy Health Services’ 102nd community.

The campus was built using Trilogy’s “Village Center” Residential model where a community dining room serves as a central meeting point.

Orchard Pointe offers assisted living, long-term and short-term care, memory care, outpatient therapy and respite care.

Residents will be able to enjoy courtyards, a putting green, ice cream parlor, beauty salon, state-of-the-art therapy gym, public and private dining rooms and cafes, which serve chef-prepared meals.

The community will be hosting an open house on September 11 for potential residents and their families.

Brightview Community Celebrates Completion 

Located in Canton, Mass., Brightview Canton welcomed its first residents in July and is now holding an event to dedicate the land to Canton.

The community has a total of 160 apartment homes, which includes independent living, assisted living and a Wellspring Village, which is a specialized program and environment for residents with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.

Residents at Brightview can enjoy restaurant-style dining, private dining rooms for special occasions, exercise classes, spa, beauty shop, upscale pub with billiards and TV, theater, outdoor spaces and security-controlled entrances.
