Community Will Expand CCRC in Carlisle, Pa.

A Presbyterian Senior Living CCRC will begin construction of 12 residential homes for independent living. Green Ridge Village already serves more than 300 older adults in  personal care, memory support, skilled nursing and rehabilitation.

The expansion will include four duplex homes and four single, 2,100 square-foot craftsman style, single-story homes with high-end finishes and features.

Each home will have an open floor plan with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, gourmet kitchen with breakfast nook, formal dining room, great room, den, outdoor patio, storage area and an oversized two-car garage. The expansion will also incorporate sustainable practices and materials through the design and construction process.

Trilogy Health Services Has New Community Planned

The Willows at Harrodsburg located in Harrodsburg, Ky. is currently located in a 10,000 square-foot extended campus wing of the James B. Haggis Memorial Hospital, but plans to move to a new campus have been made.

The new campus will be on 48,320 square feet of land, with 32,000 square feet for the new health campus. The two-story building will include 38 beds in a personal care residential facility and 43 beds in a skilled nursing facility. The Willows will also expand services in the new building to offer personal care, short-term rehabilitation, skilled nursing, long-term care, adult day services and respite care.

The construction is anticipated to start in the fall and the campus is planned to open in late 2017. There is no assigned contractor at this time.

Senior Living Community Gets New Look and New Ownership

The Shorewood Retirement Residences located in Florence, Ore. is getting a makeover after the announcement of new ownership. Compass Senior Living will now operate the community and will rename it Shorewood Senior Living.

The 71-unit independent living community will undergo major refurbishments. This includes interior and exterior painting, re-carpeting all common areas, all new common area furniture and initial refurbishment of several unoccupied resident apartments.

CCRC Plans to Expand in Chesterfield, Va.

An upscale CCRC located in Chesterfield, Va., Lucy Corr Village, is planning to expand its presence by building additional independent living cottages as well as a home health care division.

Currently, Lucy Corr Village offers independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing, short-term rehab and adult day services for seniors. The expansions will be made possible in part through $21.2 million in financing secured from SunTrust Bank.

Watercrest Senior Living Group Memory Care Community Planned

Located in Palm Coast, Fla., Watercrest Senior Living Group announced they will be expanding their memory care community, Market Street Memory Care Residences.

The new community will be 46,000 square feet and will include 64 units solely for memory care. The ground breaking is planned for this December and will open late 2017.

Walker and Company will be building Market Street and LifeBuilt Architecture will be handling design.

Minnesota Senior Living Community Breaks Ground

Located in Minnetonka, Minn., Cherry Pointe of Minnetonka senior living community has begun construction. The community will be four stories and consist of 100 units.

There will be 72 independent living and assisted living apartments with a variety of floor plans, 22 memory care apartments and six care suites. Cherry Pointe of Minnetonka will feature a restaurant-style dining room with chef-prepared meals, private dining, overnight guest room, community rooms, underground parking, outdoor decks and patios and state-of-the-art monitoring and reporting technology

The community will have a full-time nurse who is on call 24 hours. Residents will also be able to enjoy a movie theater, fitness center, hair salon, bistro and scheduled group transportation in a community van.

The community is developed and owned by United Properties and is being designed by Tushie Montgomery Architects and Henricksen for Human Care. Weis Construction is building the project and is anticipated to be complete in summer 2017.

Largest LGBT Senior Community Underway in New York City

The Ingersoll Senior Residences and the Crotona Senior Residences are underway in Brooklyn and the Bronx, N.Y.,  aimed at LGBT seniors. Both buildings will provide Services and Advocacy for LGBT Elders (SAGE) Centers.

Ingersoll and Crotona are taking a conscious initiative to be as inclusive as possible in both communities.

Ingersoll will be the largest LGBT-welcoming senior housing community in the country and will have a total of 145 affordable housing units. The expected cost of the project is $47 million and will be designed by Marvel Architects.

Crotona Senior Residences will have 82 units and expected to cost $38.4 million. Magnusson Architecture and Planning will design the building. Both communities are expected to open in summer 2019.

Midwest Health Senior Living Community Starts Construction

Ranch House Senior Community has broken ground in Garden City, Kan. The community is on the 74,000 square-foot structure on 25 acres of property.

Initially, Ranch House will include 36 assisted living units, 14 memory care units and 60 skilled nursing units with future plans to build an additional 42 independent living units and 15 patio homes/cottages. The project is expected to take 14 months and sits on 25 acres of property.

MorningStar Senior Living Community Nears Completion 

MorningStar Senior Living at RidgeGate, located in Long Tree, Colo., is nearly done. The new community will offer three options for seniors. There will be 124 independent living apartments, 71 assisted living apartments and 29 secure suites in a memory care wing.

The memory care wing will provide specialized care for residents with memory impairment or dementia. Kitchens in the memory care units will not be equipped with cooking appliances, for residents’ safety.

Construction of RideGate began in February 2015 and is anticipated to be completed by December. More than 60% of the independent living apartments have already been reserved.

Thrive Senior Living Opens New Assisted Living Community

A new assisted living facility is open in Athens, Ga. Thrive at Athens opened its door for residents in the Spring and is now in the full swing of things.

The Thrive Senior Living Community offers 70 units and can accommodate up to 90 residents. There is also a memory care unit the can care for 20 residents at one time.Thrive at Athens focuses a lot on technology, where doors are unlocked by the wave of a badge by employees and residents wear bracelets that have the same technology.

Thrive contracted with IN2L to help give residents the chance to go online on computers. The community also offers restaurant-style dining, a movie theater and a snack bar open all day.
