Ten thousand baby boomers are turning 65 every day—and the senior housing providers most likely to succeed are recognizing that this huge opportunity also comes with some substantial challenges. In a recent survey of 184 senior living providers conducted by Senior Housing News and PointClickCare, respondents were asked to share the issues that are keeping them up at night.
While the concerns varied, most often these open-ended responses had to do with staffing—staff continuity, staff recruitment, staff retention, the looming caregiver shortage and speed of turnover were among the concerns cited.
