San Diego City Officials Approve Plans for $150 Million CCRC

Officials with the San Diego City Council recently gave unanimous approval for the construction plans of The Glen at Scripps Ranch, a $150 million continuing care retirement community (CCRC), reports San Diego Business Journal.

The 53-acre CCRC, which is planned for a site near Interstate 15, is being developed by The Glen at Scripps Ranch CCRC, LLC, a Del.-based limited liability company.

Constructions plans call for 450 assisted living units and 60 skilled nursing beds at the CCRC’s project site located at 10455 Pomerado Road, within the Scripps Miramar Ranch community.

San Diego-based engineering and planning firm Latitude 33 assisted The Glen at Scripps Ranch with land entitlements, permits and related project processing.

Project designs were provided by KTGY Architects and KTU+A Landscape Architects.

Grand Living, Ryan Companies Break Ground on Fla. Senior Living Project

Minn.-based Grand Living and Ryan Companies have broken ground in Hernando, Fla.

The project is Grand Living at Citrus Hills, a senior living community located within The Villages of Citrus Hills. It will offer independent, assisted living and memory care services within accommodations ranging from studios to two-bedroom apartment homes with dens.

Grand Living at Citrus Hills is a partnership between Excelsior- and Minneapolis-based Grand Living and Ryan Companies US, Inc. This joint venture provides the full spectrum of services for the development, ongoing ownership and operation of senior living communities.

The community will offer a variety of dining and menu options in alternate settings, including formal and casual dining, a bistro and clubroom.

A wellness center and spa will feature a full-service salon, outdoor pool, exercise studio and offices for rotating medical providers. Additional amenities include a Grand Lounge and library, performance theater for the arts, music and lifelong learning programs, a chapel, activity and art studios, a pet grooming center and instrumental practice rooms.

Substantial completion of the community is expected in April 2017, a representative from Ryan Companies told SHN.

Brandywine Senior Living Set to Break Ground in Va.

Brandywine Senior Living recently began construction on its first of five senior living communities planned in the Washington, D.C. metro area, according to a release issued this week by the Mt. Laurel, N.J.-based company.

Cameron Park Development in Alexandria, Va. will host 116 suits throughout six stories, with ground floor retail in the plans to “compliment the vibrant and active lifestyle of the surrounding area,” Brandywine stated in the release.

The new community will be part of the JBG Company’s 722,000-square-foot Cameron Park development on Alexandria’s West End, south of S. Pickett Street and east of Cameron Station Boulevard.

Brandywine Senior Living at Alexandria will feature interior and exterior courtyards, a therapy pool and gym, beauty salon, movie theatre, a pub, outdoor patios, private dining rooms—among other building features designed to “enhance the quality of the resident experience.”

Residents may choose from studios, one- and two-bedrooms, each replete with luxury amenities and elegant décor.

In addition to its 116 units, the development also features 66 townhomes and “roughly 300” multifamily units to be developed by Pulte Homes, the national builder of Del Webb age-55 and older communities.

Brandywine currently operates 27 communities across five states, including Pa., N.J., N.Y., Conn. and Del.

The company is currently under agreement for additional developments in Northern Va. and Montgomery County, Md.

Titan Senior Living Breaks Ground on 109-Unit New Mexico Community

Texas-based Titan Development is developing a new 109-unit assisted living community under the company’s Élan senior living brand in collaboration with Iowa-based Life Care Services (LCS) in Albuquerque, reports Albuquerque Business First.

Titan’s senior housing arm, Titan Senior Living, held a groundbreaking ceremony last week for the 85,134-square-foot project, which has been named Élan Santa Monica.

Designed as a resort-style community, Élan Santa Monica will provide assisted living and memory care services to residents, along with amenities such as a restaurant, salon, spa, wellness center and concierge services.

Upon opening in summer 2017, Élan Santa Monica will be operated by LCS. Dallas-based D2 Architecture is serving as the project architect and Reid & Associates is the general contractor.

The project is being constructed across the street from a new 130-unit independent living community currently being developed by Nebraska-based Resort Lifestyle Communities. This community, which has been dubbed Coronado Villa, is set to open this fall.

Constant Care Management Co. to Open New Assisted Living, Memory Care Community in Texas

Texas-based Constant Care Management Co. is scheduled to open its newest senior living community, Grand Brook of Allen at Twin Creeks in Allen, Texas.

Constant Care Management Co. is the owner of Stoneybrook communities in Garland, McKinney and Grapevine. To bring its latest endeavor to Allen, the company partnered with Dallas-based Silverado Interests and Origin Bank.

At 32 beds, two “small” residential-style homes will face a central park area and will also have a courtyard containing a covered patio wrapping around the property to encourage outdoor, as well as indoor, living.

The community will also feature a multi-purpose clubhouse that will serve as a café, a chapel and a salon in addition to other activities and amenities.

Grand Brook of Allen is located within the Twin Creeks development near W. Exchange Parkway and Highway 75, on the corner of Medical Drive and Junction in Allen.

Wendover Housing Partners Opens Affordable Senior Housing Community in Florida

Privately-held real estate developer, investor and management company Wendover Housing Partners this week announced the opening of Heritage Village Commons, the company’s first affordable senior housing community in Central Florida.

The community is just one of four affordable senior living communities across the state of Florida currently being built and managed by Wendover.

Each community is designed for income-restricted residents ages 55 and up for those “seeking to live an active, stress-free lifestyle in a safe and upscale community,” Wendover said in a release dated Tuesday.

One- and two-bedroom apartments at Heritage Village Commons range from $559-$820—below Florida’s average range of $1,100-$1,380, according to Apartmentlist.com data for March 2016.

Each unit in Wendover’s senior communities features a fully-equipped kitchen including a dishwasher, microwave, island and pantry, as well as a full-size washer and dryer. Walk-in storage space, linen closets and an emergency call system are also featured within each unit.

Heritage Village Commons is currently accepting rental applications for new residents.

Discovery Village Cuts Ribbon on 126-Unit Fla. Senior Living Community

Bonita Springs, Fla.-based Discovery Senior Living celebrated a ribbon-cutting ceremony last month to commemorate the opening of Discovery Village At Sarasota Bay, the company’s newest senior living development.

Located at 1414 69th Avenue W. in Bradenton, Fla., Discovery Village At Sarasota Bay is a 126-unit community providing independent, assisted living and memory care.

The 130,000-square-foot community offers a variety of amenities, including a Grande Clubhouse, which offers fine dining with three gourmet meals with table side service daily, a bistro and ice cream parlor, bar and lounge, library, indoor heated wellness pool, a senior-equipped fitness center, along with a health and wellness center, arts and crafts studio, salon and barber services, media center with brain fitness programming and a movie theater.

Additional amenities include complimentary scheduled transportation, concierge services, housekeeping, social and recreational activities, an on-site medical director, on-site therapies, an on-site Medicare-certified home health agency and 24/7 access to the community’s staff of experienced professionals.

Unit accommodations include grande suites, as well as one- and two-bedroom apartment homes.
