Dominion Senior Living Announces Master-Planned Community in Ky.
Knoxville, Ky.-based senior housing provider Dominion Senior Living will soon begin construction on a new assisted living and memory care community in Richmond, Ky., the company announced this week.
Dominion Senior Living of Richmond will be a 50,000-square-foot, $8 million community located as part of the Meridian Way master-planned community at 601 Fairfax in Richmond.
The two-story facility will offer 60 apartments for assisted living and memory care services, along with a continuum of care by utilizing professionally trained LPNs and caregivers available 24 hours a day.
The community will feature all-inclusive monthly rental rates without a length-of-stay commitment, and includes laundry service, transportation services, three home-style meals each day, Wi-Fi, 24-7 surveillance monitoring, personalized care services, a life enrichment program, on-site medical assistance, therapy services and more.
A large courtyard will include picnic areas, games, walking paths and sensory gardens designed with features to engage residents living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.
Dominion Senior Living plans for the new community to be open by early 2017.
Spectrum Retirement Communities Plans Senior Living Project for Texas
Denver-based Spectrum Retirement Communities is proposing the Cedar Park City Council of Texas to rezone 2.4 acres for the development of a new senior living community that will sit on about six acres, reports Community Impact Newspaper.
The community, which would be owned and operated by Spectrum, would have two portions, including a group of five duplexes with 10 units total that would house seniors who can live independently.
The largest building would include 84 independent living apartments, 54 assisted living apartments and 16 apartments with memory care.
Traditions Senior Living, Century Investment Partners Plan Ala. Assisted Living Community
Franklin, Tenn.-based Traditions Senior Living and Century Investment Partners (also of Franklin) plan to break ground in April on a new assisted living community in Athens, Ala.
Traditions of Athens will be a 63-unit assisted living facility located on Highway 72 east of Interstate 65. The two-story community will encompass 58,000-square-feet of living space and will feature a two-story grand entrance, various living rooms, a private dining room, library, salon and a bistro lounge.
The cost of the project, which is a joint venture between Traditions Senior Living and Century Investment Partners, is approximately $11 million.
Brentwood, Tenn.-based Davis Stokes Collaborative, P.C. is the architect for the community. Nashville-based Innkeepers Supply, Inc. will handle interior design.

Wesley Manor CCRC Embarks on $8.4 Million Construction, Renovation Project
Next week, Wesley Manor, a continuing care retirement community (CCRC) of Methodist Homes of Alabama and Northwest Florida, will begin an extensive construction and renovation project that will bring a new model of care to the campus in Dothan, Ala.
Expected to cost $8.4 million, the renovation will add the “Household Model,” a person-centered approach to care developed by Manhattan, Kan.-based Action Pact that emphasizes independence, choice and interpersonal relationships.
The “Household Model” enables smaller groups of residents to live together in a household environment replete with common areas such as a kitchen and living room, with each resident able to enjoy private accommodations.
Meanwhile, renovation plans at Wesley Manor include the development of a dedicated short-term stay rehabilitation center, as well as update to modernize the entire campus, including existing assisted living and health care areas. The main entrance and other building exteriors will also be canvassed into a mid-century modern style.
To kick-off construction, Wesley Manor will host a groundbreaking ceremony February 12 at its campus located at 718 Honeysuckle Road in Dothan, Ala.
Birmingham, Ala.-based Golden Construction anticipates project completion in January 2017.
Fair Haven CCRC Undergoing $42.4 Million Expansion
In other construction news for Methodist Homes of Alabama and Northwest Florida, the company is currently planning an extensive expansion and repositioning over the next two years at its Fair Haven CCRC in Birmingham, Ala.
Construction will produce not only a physical change to the campus, but will also provide the Household Model of care, similar to Wesley Manor.
Expansions include the demolition of multiple existing buildings to make way for construction of new assisted living residences, independent living apartments and two skilled nursing buildings, including a dedicated short-term rehabilitation center.
Existing community areas of the campus will also be redesigned to include medical and dental offices, a fitness center, bistro, ice cream parlor and other amenities.
The campus will also incorporate a traditional Birmingham Tudor style for new and existing building facades.
Birmingham, Ala.-based Golden Construction expects to complete the renovation and expansion in August 2017.
JV Developers Begin Construction on Dallas Senior Living Community
Construction began this week on a new senior living community in Dallas dubbed Adora Midtown Park, a project that is being developed by a joint venture partnership between Plano, Texas-based U.S. Freedom Capital and Southwest operator/developer OnPointe Health Development.
The 77,132-square-foot Adora Midtown Park community will offer 109 skilled nursing and assisted living suites.
Adora Midtown Park is located at 8160 Meadow Rd., near the intersection of Meadow Road and Manderville Lane in Dallas, immediately north of the Presbyterian Dallas Hospital.
A construction contract was recently awarded to Adolfson & Peterson, a firm with offices in Texas, North Carolina, Minneapolis, Colorado, Washington, Arizona and Wyoming.
Funding for the project was provided in part by foreign investors seeking U.S. residency through the EB-5 Investor Visa program. U.S. Freedom Capital and OnPointe Health provided bridge capital to the project.
Developers anticipate completion of Adora Midtown Park for March 2017.

Episcopal Communities & Services Opens Luxury Calif. Community
Pasadena, Calif.-based Episcopal Communities & Services (ECS), along with team members from Perkins Eastman’s senior living design studio, celebrated the grand opening of MonteCedro, a new luxury Life Plan community in Altadena, Calif.
The new community, which is situated on an eight-acre site in the foothills of Altadena, comprises 186 apartments, 20 assisted living and memory support residences and coordinated in-home care.
Amenities include, but are not limited to, a fitness center, both fine and casual dining venues, an outdoor heated saline pool, creative arts studio, library, salon, cocktail lounge and movie theater.
MonteCedro’s architectural features include terracotta roof tiles, arcades, private balconies, wood and iron detailing, as well as exposed support beams to evoke elements of California Mission and Spanish Colonial Revival motifs.
Wohlsen Construction, Artis Senior Living Open N.J. Memory Care Community
Media, Pa.-based Wohlsen Construction Company and McLean, Va.-based Artis Senior Living celebrated the ribbon cutting and grand opening of their newest memory care community: Artis Senior Living of Evesham, N.J.
The 33,000-square-foot community features 68 beds dedicated to seniors living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.
Four neighborhoods designed to create an intimate environment with familiar living spaces comprise the community: Kirby’s Mill, Cropwell Station, Inskeep House and Pine Barren. These neighborhoods connect to a Town Center, which offers additional amenities, including an art studio, community center, apothecary and a beauty salon/barber shop.
Wichita, Kan.-based Law Kingdon served as the architect for the project.
Maplewood Senior Living Opens Brewster, Mass. Community
Westport, Conn.-based Maplewood Senior Living recently opened a new senior living community in Brewster, Mass., reports CapeCod.com.
Maplewood at Brewster offers 132 units of assisted living and memory care services in private, deluxe studio and one-bedroom apartments.
The LEED certified community features stone fireplaces, libraries, a bistro, wellness and aquatic center, spa, salon and outdoor gardens.
