Kindred Healthcare Names Peter K. Kalmey as President of Hospital Division

Kindred Healthcare, Inc., the largest post-acute services provider in the country, announced that Peter K. Kalmey is the new president of its hospital division, effective Jan. 1, 2016. Kalmey will be a member of the company’s executive committee.

Kalmey succeeds Steven L. Monaghan, who is retiring from the company Dec. 31. Monaghan joined Kindred in 1996 and has served as president of the hospital division since 2013.

Kalmey first joined indeed in 1995 and has served in multiple executive positions within the hospital division. He began serving as chief operating officer of the hospital division in 2013. 

“Pete’s leadership and management skills will be invaluable to our hospital division as we position Kindred in advance of a transition to value-based systems,” Kent H. Wallace, Kindred’s chief operating officer, said in a statement. “His strong working relationship and partnership with Steve and the division’s leadership team have prepared him for success in his new role.”

Berkadia Adds Christopher Honn to Seniors Housing Group

Berkadia, a real estate company that provides comprehensive capital solutions and investment sales advisory and research services, has named Christopher Honn as senior managing director in the Seniors Housing Group. He will be based in the Chicago office and report to Warren Higgins, head of mortgage banking. 

Honn has more than 30 years of experience financing seniors housing and health care real estate projects ranging in loan size from $1 million to $3.5 billion. He will be responsible for managing the firm’s loan originations for seniors housing and health care related assets. 

Prior to joining Berkadia, Honn served as director of new business production and customer relationships for 13 years at Fannie Mae, where he managed the seniors housing project. In that role, he developed and executed strategies to grow profitable loan production, develop existing and new customer relationships and create product enhancements. He previously spent 10 years as an investment banker and prior to that, a commercial banker for seven years at American National Bank in Chicago, focusing on seniors housing and health care. 

Senior Quality Lifestyles Corporation Hires Two New Executives

Senior Quality Lifestyles Corporation (SQLC), a Dallas-based senior living community developer, has named Katheryn Pigott, SHRM-CP, as HR business partner and Misty Miller, BSN RN, as health services director.

Prior to joining SQLC, Pigott served as director of human resources for Edgemere in Dallas. She has 15 years of human resources experience and expertise. Her previous experience includes HR generalist affairs, including experience in employee recruitment and retention, staff development, mediation, conflict resolution, benefits and compensation, HR records management, HR policies development and legal compliance. 

Miller is a registered nurse with 11 years of experience in long-term care. She previously served as director of nursing for The Plaza Health Services at Edgemere in Dallas, where she maintained compliance with state and federal regulation for the 72-skilled nursing units. During a 2014 annual inspection, The Plaza had zero deficiencies under her leadership. 

Both Pigott and Miller will oversee the human resources and health services operations of six life care communities: Edgemere in Dallas, The Buckingham in Houston, Querencia at Barton Creek in Austin, Mirador in Corpus Christi, The Stanton at Museum Way in Fort Worth and The Barrington of Carmel in Indianapolis, Indiana.  

Mirador Hires Martha Bonilla as Director of Marketing for Health Services and Sales

Mirador, a Masterpiece Living community located in Corpus Christi, Texas, has named Martha Bonilla as director of marketing for health services and sales for The Plaza Health Services at Mirador. Mirador is a non-profit senior living community sponsored by Senior Quality Lifestyles Corporation, a Texas-based non-profit organization. 

Bonilla brings 15 years of experience in retail and customer service to her new role with a strong background in working face-to-face with customers. In her role at The Plaza, she will be responsible for managing the census for Mirador and ensuring that residents and their families are satisfied. She will help to guide residents and their families through their residency for all levels of care they may seek.

Edgemere Senior Living Appoints Alex Gonzalez as Director of Residential Services

Alex Gonzalez has been named director of residential services at Edgemere senior living community, a Dallas-based retirement community that offers independent living, assisted living, memory care and private skilled nursing rooms.

Prior to his new role, Gonzalez served as supervisor of the Edgemere dining room where he was responsible for leading the service teams in the dining rooms for both independent living and health care. He has been with the community for eight years in various roles. He also managed sales, was responsible for hiring and training all new employees and oversaw resident and guest events. 

As director of residential services, he will direct the housekeeping and laundry departments, including managing the department budget, be responsible for hiring and training all new employees and manage the maintenance and decoration of all common areas.

Mike Lynch Appointed to Southwest Regional VP of Sales at Procura

Procura, a leading provider of home and community care software, has expanded their North American sales team by naming Mike Lynch as regional vice president of sales in the Southwest region. 

Lynch has 19 years of experience in health care sales and has served in various executive positions in sales, account management and network development. In his experience, he has had success driving sales in the home health care industry. In his new role, Lynch will be responsible for driving sales, increasing awareness and managing the growth of Procura’s SaaS solution, ContinuLink.

Procura serves more than 2,300 customer sites that manage care for over 1.71 million clients.

Bethesda Senior Living Communities Advisory Group Selects Assisted Living Director

The Presidential Advisory Group of Bethesda Senior Living Communities, a faith-based non-profit organization based in Colorado Springs, has chosen Karie Schwark to join the group.

Schwark is currently the executive director of Grand Villas Assisted Living in Grand Junction, Colorado. Her selection was announced during a conference in Milwaukee. The group honors directors who exemplify the core values of the organization, including adding value, offering others opportunities for growth, promoting teamwork and serving in a moral and ethical manner.

Sagora Senior Living Names Lynsey Tate as Executive Director of Granbury Community 

Sagora Senior Living, a Fort Worth-based senior living provider with 18 independent living, assisted living and memory care communities in the Southeast region of the United States, recently announced Lynsey Tate has been named the new executive director of Waterview community, located in Granbury, Texas.

Tate has more than 10 years of experience in the property management industry and in customer service relations. Most recently, she worked as a manager for G.L. Couch Properties, where she was responsible for managing day-to-day operations of a multi-family housing complex.  

In her new role, Tate will oversee day-to-day operations and management of the independent living community.
