Avanti Senior Living Plans Louisiana Market Expansion
Texas-based assisted living and memory care provider Avanti Senior Living is planning to expand into the Louisiana market, beginning with Baton Rouge and Covington.
The cities will soon be home to Avanti’s next projects, 77,000-square-foot communities that will accommodate 50 assisted living and 40 memory care residents on its proposed six acres sites, the company told SHN.
Working with Avanti in selecting sites throughout Louisiana is Baton Rouge-based Saurage Rotenberg Commercial Real Estate.
Discovery Senior Living to Bring 3rd Community to Southwest Florida
Bonita Springs, Fla.-based Discovery Senior Living announced this week that it plans to break ground this month on its third Discovery Village senior living community and wellness center to the Southwest Florida market—this time to Bradenton.
Discovery Village at Sarasota Bay will be located on an 11-acre parcel in Bradenton. With a groundbreaking scheduled for October 22, the community will have a Grande Clubhouse building that comprises a three-story wing of 30 apartment homes for supervised independent living; three-story wind of 66 apartment homes for assisted living and a one-story wing for memory care.
The Grande Clubhouse will also feature two dining rooms, social areas, game room, bistro and ice cream parlor, bar and lounge, movie theatre, a state-of-the-art wellness center, a senior-equipped fitness center, indoor heated wellness pool, beauty salon and spa with barber shop, media center with cognitive brain fitness and a multi-functional art, hobby and craft center and activity room.
Accommodations for the $30 million, 130,000-square-foot community include grande suites, along with one- and two-bedroom apartment homes.
Discovery Village at Sarasota is the design of Architectural Concepts, Inc. of Largo, Fla. Naples-based Wegman Design Group will provide interior design solutions, while The Douglass Company is the general building construction management firm.
The project is scheduled to be completed by November 2015.
Senior Care Communities to Break Ground on Minn. Assisted Living
St. Paul, Minn.-based non-profit Senior Care Communities, along with Minnetonka-based The Waters Senior Living LLC, is breaking ground next week on a new senior living community in St. Paul’s Highland Park neighborhood.
The Waters of Highland Park will be a new 84-unit community consisting of month-to-month, private pay apartments, including 54 senior living with services, 15 memory care and 15 enhanced care units.
The four-story, 113,596-square-foot project was designed by Kaas Wilson Architects and is being constructed by Frana Companies.
In addition to health and personal care services, amenities include a salon and spa, relaxation studios, health and well-being studio, restaurant, café, creative arts studio and heated underground parking.
To support its well-being program, The Waters has built a partnership with the University of Minnesota’s Center for Spirituality and Healing to help deliver well-being focused care services, hospitality and another amenities to its residents.
The companies expect construction to be completed by September 2014 and available for resident move-in October 2015.

Presbyterian Communities and Services Underway on $93 Million Dallas Expansion
Irving, Texas-based not-for-profit provider Presbyterian Communities and Services is finally underway on its previously announced $93 million expansion of its Presbyterian Village North campus in Dallas, reports Dallas Business Journal.
The groundbreaking, which took place Wednesday, will expand the 350,000-square-foot campus and is expected to house 200 seniors each year. Included in the expansion project are two new independent living buildings, a lifestyle fitness center, a transitional care unit and an expansion of an assisted living building.
In total, the project will add 175 apartments throughout the campus, as well as 60-beds for the new transitional care unit.
Maplewood Senior Living Holds Groundbreaking for Mass. Assisted Living Project
Westport, Conn.-based provider Maplewood Senior Living held a groundbreaking ceremony this week to mark the start of construction for a new assisted living and memory care community in Brewster, Mass.
The community, dubbed Maplewood Brewster, will be a two-story, 132-unit community consisting of a mix of private, deluxe studio and one-bedroom apartments for residents living with early, mid-stage and late-stage Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.
Maplewood Brewster will feature amenities including libraries, a bistro, Wellness and Aquatic Center, light-filled lobbies and spas in addition to outdoor gardens and terraces. The community will also bring its signature farm-to-table dining experience to its residents.
Chelsea, Mass.-based firm The Architectural Team is the architect for the project.

Senior Lifestyle Corp. Hosts Ribbon Cutting for Ill. Assisted Living Opening
Last week, Chicago-based owner-operator and developer Senior Lifestyle Corporation celebrated the grand opening of its newest community, North Shore Place, an assisted living and memory care community in Northbrook, Ill.
The seven-acre community encompasses 170,000-square-feet with 156 luxury apartments and is Senior Lifestyle’s first Signature Collection community in the U.S.
The company’s Signature Collection includes luxury amenities for residents, including common areas to play pool or cards, a movie theatre, outdoor courtyard, and an upscale bistro. Additionally, residents can also enjoy full kitchens, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, in-unit wager and dryer, routine housekeeping and seasonal cuisine prepared by the community’s executive chef.
Silverado Opens New Memory Care Community in Texas Market
Irvine, Calif.-based Silverado this week celebrated the grand opening of its latest memory care community in Bee Cave, Texas.
Silverado Memory Care Community Bee Cave, which broke ground last year, already serves more than 20 people with memory impairments in its first week of operation, with a capacity to serve as many as 90 residents when fully leased.
With the opening of this community, Silverado now operates two locations in the Austin area.
Oakmont Senior Living Completes 3rd Lux Community in Sacramento Area
Santa Rosa, Calif.-based Oakmont Senior Living last week announced that it has completed construction of its third luxury retirement community in the Sacramento region that will cater to active seniors in search of resort-style amenities and continuing care services.
A grand opening was held last week for the 60,000-square-foot community, Oakmont at Folsom, which features a two-story design housing 47 assisted living and 19 memory care apartments in several floor plan options that are outfitted with elements of luxury, such as 10-foot ceilings, crown molding and spacious bathrooms.
The community’s amenity package includes gourmet dining, on- and off-site recreational and social events/activities, a library, movie theatre, full-size fitness center, activity rooms, a salon and day spa, flower and vegetable garden, orchard, walking paths, a pet park, chauffeured transportation and concierge services.
The Engel Burman Group Opens New Assisted Living Facility in N.Y.
Last week, The Engel Burman Group celebrated the grand opening of The Bristal at Armonk, its newest assisted living community in Westchester County.
Located in Armonk, N.Y., the three-story, 119,000-square-foot building includes 106 assisted living residences comprised of eight “friendship” suites, 36 studies, 56 one-bedroom and six two-bedroom residences. Additionally, there are also 40 memory care apartments.
Amenities featured within the community include an elegant lobby, cinema, fitness center, salon, arts and crafts studio, gigo center ,card and game room, library, wellness center, and heated outdoor pool and an activities center for visiting grandchildren.
The community also incorporates a walking path, bocce and internet cafe, as well as gourmet meals in dining room and bistro settings, including a private dining room that can be reserved for family gatherings.
