Senior Living Restaurant Company Adds New Position

Premier Restaurant Equipment, responsible for designing and equipping numerous senior living communities, among other facilities, has added industry veteran Ross Cohen as director of institutional foodservice. 

In this new role, Cohen will focus on the continuing development of Premier’s senior living practice on a broader national scope.

Premier has also announced that Bob Kurek, a longtime industry veteran and former CEO of Superior Products has joined the company’s board of directors. 

Jewish Home Lifecare Names Bronx Division Administrator 

Jewish Home Lifecare, a not-for-profit geriatric health and rehabilitation institution based in New York, has named Gregory Poole-Dayan as administrator of its Bronx Division.

At the division, known as the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Campus, Poole-Dayan will be responsible for the daily care of more than 2,500 residents, patients and out-patient clients, as well as 1,100 clinical, medical and professional staff. 

Poole-Dayan will oversee a 744-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation center, two senior residences, an independent living residence, an assisted living residence, three federally supported residences for older adults and an adult day program. 

He has been with Jewish Home for nearly 10 years, most recently as associate administrator of the Bronx Division. From 2005 to 2011, he worked at Jewish Home’s Westchester Division in Mamaroneck, N.Y., first as an assistant administrator for clinical services and director of nursing, then later as associate administrator of the entire campus. 

Before joining Jewish Home, Poole-Dayan held nursing management positions at the Schervier Nursing Care Center and at what is now known as the Hebrew Home at Riverdale, both in the Bronx. He began his career as a nurse at Montreal’s Royal Victoria Hospital and, later, New York City’s Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

Omnicare Appoints Ashok Singh to Senior Vice President, Chief Information Officer

Omnicare, Inc. (NYSE: OCR) has announced that Ashok Singh has ben appointed to senior vice president, chief information officer, effective Oct. 1. 

Singh will be responsible for leading Omnicare’s Information Services organization, while implementing an information technology (IT) strategy that aligns with the company’s business objectives. 

Most recently, Singh served as senior vice president of information technology for TransUnion Healthcare. Previously, he served as senior vice president of information technology at Aurora Health Care, where he led the deployment of the Epic Electronic Health Record system. He also served as vice president of IT, pharmacy and corporate systems at CVS Caremark.

“Ashok has a strong technological aptitude and brings extensive experience in healthcare IT leadership roles,” said Omnicare President and CEO Nitin Sahney in a statement. “His proven ability to optimize the operational capabilities of technology will position Omnicare well for the continued advancement of our business objectives.”

Senior Housing Publication Earns National Honors

Denver-based Spectrum Retirement Communities’ “Spectrum Enhanced Living” magazine has received a bronze honor from the National Mature Media Awards, which recognizes the best in marketing, communications, educational materials and programs in the U.S. for older adults. 

The triennial publication — designed for residents, families and prospective residents — earned the award in the housing division and magazine (publications/editorial) category. 

Spectrum’s magazine is designed in partnership with Denver-based Hungry Eye Strategic Media and is available in print, online and mobile versions. Each edition features educational stories about health, finance and relationships, as well as profiles of residents and programs.

Spectrum provides a full continuum of care at 23 senior living communities in 11 states from New York to Oregon.
