Elder Care Alliance Names Vice President of Operations

Elder Care Alliance, a nonprofit system of assisted living and memory care communities in the San Francisco Bay Area, announced James McKie as vice president of operations.

McKie began his career in real estate as a residential property manager. Prior to joining Elder Care Alliance, he was regional director of operations in Los Angeles for Meridian Senior Living. Before that, he served as executive director for a national publicly traded assisted living company.

In the early 1990s, McKie launched his own property management company, acquiring properties in Dallas and overseeing the operation of commercial income property, multi-family and single-family units. In 2003, he began specializing in active adult senior country club development and marketing. And in 2009, he became both a certified assisted living manager  in Texas and a certified administrator of a residential care facility for the elderly in California.

LeadingAge Ohio Appoints New President and CEO

LeadingAge Ohio’s board of directors has appointed Kathryn Lasley Brod as the new president and CEO to lead the statewide membership organization of not-for-profit long-term health care providers.

Brod, who was the unanimous choice of a LeadingAge Ohio search committee, will represent and provide direction for LeadingAge Ohio’s more than 300 members. She will take over the organization’s leadership from Steven Wermuth, who was the interim president and CEO.

She brings to the position more than 25 years of experience in the senior living sector. Most recently, she was a consultant based in Chicago, advising national nonprofit organizations on visioning and strategic planning.

The Goodman Group Appoints Regional Director of Sales, Marketing

The Goodman Group, a national developer and manager of senior living and health care communities, has announced the appointment of Jack (John) Daniel as regional director of sales and marketing for the Rocky Mountain region.

Daniel will provide sales and marketing support and direction to the company’s senior living and health care communities in Montana, which offer the full spectrum of care from independent living, assisted living, skilled care, rehabilitation, memory care, long-term, respite and hospice care.

He brings to the position nearly 25 years of experience as a licensed nursing home administrator with expertise in sales and marketing management and operations in the health care industry and occupancy growth.

Most recently, Daniel was a regional pharmacy sales manager for Remedi Senior Care, a large regional long-term care pharmacy. Before that, he was a long-term care division territory manager for Seneca Medical, Inc., a regional medical supply distributor. He was also a sales, marketing and customer care director for Skilled Care Pharmacy.

His operational experience spans 17 years, as he has served as administrator, executive director, regional director and consultant in the long-term care industry.

Health Care/Assisted Living Association Names New Research Analyst

The American Health Care Association and National Center for Assisted Living (AHCA/NCAL) has announced that Arlene Amodeo will join the Quality and Research Department as the new research analyst.

In this position, Amodeo will design, develop and implement data analytics using large national data sets to support, evaluate and improve quality of care using AHCA’s LTC Trend Tracker program, a web-based benchmarking tool free to members. She will also focus on analyzing the impacts of regulations and reimbursement policies at both the state and national levels.

Amodeo has previously worked to integrate programming skills and statistical knowledge on large data files for statistical modeling for agencies such as state-level departments of education.

She will join the AHCA/NCAL team on Sept. 2.

LGBT Community Names New Executive Director

Stonewall Gardens, Palm Springs’ first assisted living village for the LGBT community and operated by Northstar Senior Living, has named Dee Wieringa as the community’s executive director/administrator.

As director, Wieringa will be responsible for operations, sales and marketing, staffing, licensing and inventory.

She brings to the position has more than 10 years of leadership experience in senior living administration and most recently served as administrator at Caleo Bay Alzheimer’s Special Care Center in La Quinta, Calif.
